I have every sympathy with them, but the legal claim is against the Saudi Government through the Courts. Writing to the PL is an absolute waste of time.

Agreed. It’s all about publicity. I mean that In the nicest possible way mind. But it shouldn’t impact the takeover.

Legally she has to prove that the takeover is linked to her fiancées murder. It isn't.

Any other legal claims are against the Saudi Government. Her solicitor can write as many letters as they want but they won't make a blind bit of difference. It's a complaint based on an appeal to morality.

Due process applies. Unless convicted in a court of law, the Saudi Royal Family, however you view them, are entitled to go about their business.

My question is why isn't she writing to the Government to complain about Saudi investment in this country, trade and Arms deals?

Two sides to what? Whether she should be bombarding the PL asking them the throw the deal out based on political and human rights issue? Sorry, it's plain and simple for me. The deal to buy Newcastle is a football matter, the process for which involves the PL doing background checks to ensure that potential owners are fit and proper prospective owners based on a set criteria. If one of the criteria is that prospective owners are not to have been accused of killing and chopping people up into little bits then they would rightfully fail and it should be thrown out based on that alone. The fact is the checks are primarily financial and structural, all of which Staveley and Jamie Rueben will pass with flying colours at the very least....as will whatever saudi people are named as part of the consortium.

As I've said! you don't treat complaints with contempt.. especially when dealing with your best customers and a woman whos partner was dismembered as stuffed in a suitcase.. The premier League has to consider its reputation. The timing of the announcement the day after they open a heartfelt letter would be both ignorant , unprofessional and moronic.

No need to provoke these people over a common sense decision to wait a day or two.

The day after would be moronic but the day after that is fine? Yeah ok.

    Let's be straight with ourselves.

We are being taken over by a despicable regime (one that makes Ashley and Sports Direct look saintly in comparison) who want to use us to make their country look more attractive to the western world. I, for one, am ok with that but let's not pretend it isn't the reality.

Kashoggi's fiancé is complaining so as to embarrass as much as possible the people who chopped her intended husband into pieces. It is hard to criticise her for wanting to do that. There's **** all else she can realistically do.

No one involved in the company who are proposing the takeover will fail a fit and proper purpose test. The majority owner is head of the world's largest oil company and on the board of Uber. Stavely and Reuben are as squeaky clean as any rich person ever is. There is no link that will stand up to anyone disgusting, though everyone knows they are in the background.

The PL isn't going to block the transfer. It also doesn't want to publicly fart in Kashoggi's fiancé's face. It will make a show of thinking very carefully and then approve the takeover.

I am shallow enough to be happy with that. I can also think up rationalisations as to why it is a good thing in the long run to engage with rather than isolate the Saudis. Lots of people won't think the takeover is a good thing. They will have a point.
