We are living at a time when any government (except the French maybe?) can literally get away with the most abhorrent actions and there'll be no public outcry, no pressure and no repercussions. If Watergate had happened today, Nixon would be dusting his shoulders down and appearing in front of the cameras in full grin.

 

The Hong-Kong lot don't do getting fkd in the arse either....... Lots in this country would die for thy kids freedom and all but way more will vote for continued surveillance and more laws and less freedoms.

ONS updated Covid 19 figures for deaths in Care Homes:

27th March - 20
03 April (1 week later) - 195
10 April (1 week later) - 826
17 April (1 week later) - 2050

And that doesn't include Scotland or Northern Ireland.

No need for the government to report them though.

Total Covid 19 deaths for 17th April reported in government daily briefing was 15,464

ONS today have stated total Covid 19 deaths for 17th April was 22,351 (and that was just England and Wales).

 

It’s also only to the 13th I believe as it takes a media four days to register.

I don't know about that tbh. I know the government figure reported in the press briefing is up to the day before iirc so the figure I posted for them was reported on 18th April.

 

Fcking hell. The Care Quality Commission are reporting the number of deaths in Care Homes to 24th April is 6093

Oh there might be a few people who have a few likes

 

I suspect we will all be gasping with shock when the full impact of this virus on our care homes is lade bare and made public knowledge ... I also believe that this will be the single biggest issue that brings the government handling of the crisis under the most intense scrutiny ... the debacle of the availability of PPE to care workers and the resulting fatalities to our elderly and the care workers themselves is going to make it very difficult to put any form of positive spin on ... much too little... much too late.
