I hope it happens I really do. It is reliant on the lock-down not being extended though surely? Current lockdown is until Friday 8th May and the article states "This would require full training to begin by 18 May". So if lock-down is extended for 2 weeks, or more, then the timetable they suggest wont work - unless full training doesn't mean training as a team (I would have thought it does).

My heart hopes that the season can be restarted and resolved.

My head says that lock-down will be held until the May half term (2-3 extra weeks) and this timetable suggested will have to be amended (hopefully possible) or scrapped.

Perhaps the next stage will only invovle a partial lock-down or some such alteration to allow businesses some breathing space and football will be possible.

What I would say is that irrespective of club allegiance it would be a bit of a farce if the government advice is that people should still be social distancing and yet on TV there are 20+ grown men all standing inside an 18 yard box for each corner. It feels like we're more than a few weeks away from that personally.

Social distancing is going to be around for months even after the initial lockdown restrictions, and you're right, it is a farce if footballers suddenly get an exception while using up resources such as ambulances and paramedics.

It will be very hollow if it goes ahead and I genuinely think that many people won't be bothered enough to watch it.

A larger scale of testing has been suggested (by Dominic Raab) to try and facilitate elite sports and I suspect the PFA wont allow the players to step on to the pitch without certain assurances but it does feel that the only way to make it happen would be to prioritise football with testing and medical professionals at a time when it's likely other more important parts of society could benefit from them. Perhaps the correct route is indeed to prepare for the best and work on the basis things will have eased off enough to allow that when the time comes but I'm not convinced it is the correct allocation of resources.

There's also the idea pushed by the Prime Minister just yesterday that now is not the time to ease off and that peope have to keep social distancing and not let their guards down. Putting football back on the TV sends the opposite message in my opinion.

In the context of the thread it will probably come across as ABL (a term I'd not heard before to be honest, heard ABU a lot but i guess around Liverpool that's to be expected!) but it would be frankly silly if there wasn't some way of formally giving Liverpool the title whatever happens next. If it was a 10-15 point lead then it would be different but we're talking about a formality here.

Good post and I agree, they deserve it and will rightfully get it. It's not even close to all the other issues given their lead.

I hope the season does not restart, and I really hope they give Liverpool the title, putting one of those nice little star asterisk thingys in the record books, against their name.

The goverment allows hundreds to attend parties every week at Westminster Bridge and would be hypocritical to treat football different than the various other non-essential industries it's turning a blind eye to, including forcing staff in the passport office back to work.

Yeah as some people stood too close on a bridge (unauthorised) has complete equivalence with 20 odd blokes playing a physical contact sport and spitting all over the shop.

Oh goodie, I hope they give you two stars now. One for winning something during the death of millions of people, and the other just for being special <ok>

How can it be unauthorised if it's right in front of tens of police officers?
