French league has cancelled it seems. Is that a Government lead decision OFH? What has been the reaction - are teams up in arms or accepted it? Seems ours are happy to let players go back to training - probably to take the pressure off them and give people and the media something else to focus on and in some cases thrown their ire at.
It might be a bit advanced of what the PM is saying at the moment. It was expected that he would say no games before August. I will try and find out.
Ah - seems like its reported as "could be cancelled" now. Like you say the current situation seems to be no matches till August.
All shops to reopen from 11th May, but facemasks to be worn. Large shopping centres may not open if the local area thinks it unwise. Public transport limited to essential workers during peak hours from 11th May and facemasks again. Travel between departments not allowed. No bars or restaurants to open yet. Beaches to stay closed until June 1st earliest. Events with more than 5,000 banned before September. School classes restricted to 15 pupils. Country to be divided into green and red zones to show high and low transmission areas. Different rules could apply. Football season will not resume, but doesn't say if the clubs are agreed.
I thought that class sizes in France were generally slightly larger than in UK - up to 35 I've been told. Any word on how they intend to manage such a big drop?
Talking to my granddaughters this is a major problem. You are right on the numbers, and they don't know as yet how to manage it. Nearly all children have a midday meal so they don't know how to manage that one either. As some of the schools take children from a large area, there are a lot of weekly boarders with three sharing a flatlet. All very much up in the air at the moment.
I guess PSG have won the title so that isn't an issue and is there money to be made from being relegated from the top flight or promoted to it? Trouble is whatever these leagues do someone won't like it and people who have no interest in the game or understanding of the world wide situation will say "well why is sport allowed to start/carry on" if we aren't. As I say by allowing the teams here to return training the Government have made a rod for their own back as now people are saying "well does that mean the lockdown will be relaxed for everyone" or re they going be tested ahead of more essential workers?
Up here two ideas have been floated - schools opening six days a week and children attending on alternate days only, or the normal five day week with children attending for either a morning or an afternoon session only. I doubt either idea would meet with universal approval from parents, but when needs must...
Watford are getting good coverage in the media for letting NHS utilise the stadium and Watford providing meals and washing and laundry facilities There is a good article in the Daily Mail today as well as in News flashes
They should crown us as Champions on a one off special because we have shown what football clubs can achieve unlike Liverpool whose only concern was winning the title at any cost and trying to get their staff paid by the Government

It sets out better what the PM said than my comments while he was speaking. This is not 100% what will happen in every case, but will depend of the numbers continuing in the right direction. Ligue 1 & 2 will meet next month to discuss how they are going to sort things out over promotion etc.
