Quite a lot of assumptions there because you trust the government to do the right thing. Somewhere along the line we’ve got it badly wrong going simply on the death tolls. No one has said Whitty is a bad CMO. It’s not like I have a CMO to compare him to. Just that he’s relatively inexperienced. It’s just a hypothesis that he might not get heard enough in meetings when there are some bigger characters. We simply don’t know either way. Sunak spoke well a month or so ago. There’s a long way to go with his promises to decide he’s been anywhere near successful. Some of those on here who are having to apply for the self-employed help will know better than either of us how smoothly that’s going in reality. It was a good speech though.
Actually a woman like Nandy may have been a breath of fresh air? Agree, Starmer maybe forensic and a 'bloke' but he is wooden and even working-class men will see that. As for Boris for all his faults, people love him and he is very popular. You have said yourself in the past about the electorate... People like to vote for characters they like and sometimes put detail to one side.
Why shouldn't we trust them on this? They are normal people mate. The last thing they want is all this cr3p. They have the right people and I would trust them rather than Fred on Facebook who works on a burger van? I think Sb commented on the other thread regarding a cover-up. I don't think they are going out of their way to hide the truth mate. Maybe a bit crap at communication but no conspiracy. Sunak has done some unprecedented things and I can't comment on individual cases but according to one newspaper, I read (Times I think) describing what he has done as taking centre stage.
Show me a government that doesn't lie, show me a politician that doesn't lie. It's not an exclusive Tory thing, they're doing a fine job of f*cking things up through ineptitude, just look at the minister this morning taken apart by Piers Morgan, one of many who are ill-prepared, ill-briefed and out of their depth. If Labour had won the election would things be better? Don't kid yourself, it would be just as cack-handed and they'd have blamed the Tories anyway. We, along with most European countries, were caught short, acted too late and have paid a massive price both in lives and financially. It'll take a decade at least to recover...
Yes of course. Put politics aside for a minute. We are a country that has a pandemic. This can affect anyone (Boris). All those people are working hard to stop this. Agree there may be mistakes on the way but they still want the best for the country. It's in everyone's interest to get rid of this asap. When this is over they will judged. Some will say they did what they could and others will say different. If we don't trust them, who do we trust?
Yeah but if they were we could be talking about a million deaths and a 99.9% fall in GDP. We could not be but we could be. Jezza, Gold, Iraq.
It doesn't make it all right but tell me what does because it'll never happen. Politicians lie, fact...
Some don’t. It helps justify the ****tiness of one side if you can be convinced that all sides are just as ****ty. They aren’t.
I'm sure some are seasoned liars whereas others just choose not to tell the truth perhaps out of fear of the consequences but I'd be amazed if any politician completed their career without even lying about their expenses...
