    We are definitely not recording all the deaths in care homes correctly. There is no other explanation for 6,000 extra deaths .

    Which is why excess deaths is the only measure which will give us an idea of the full toll both directly and indirectly .

    On the correct thread now.

    So @Chief, the reason you are not pissed off with the rules about B&Q versus Family is basically because you have not been following them, now I understand. I will quote you and your sanctimonius comment below;

    Quote;
    'Visiting' family means driving somewhere and sitting in a house together. You've got to go somewhere to do this as if you live with your family it's a moot point anyway.

    Going to a large retail outlet means parking in a car park and observing social distance shopping with those measures in place, just like you do when you go to the supermarket. If the retail outlet can not provide the necessary measures, it doesn't open. Simple as that.

    I really, really, really don't get why that's not just obvious? It's hardly nuclear physics.

    As for Greggs, if you can buy a Greggs and socially distance then so be it, I don't think think it's just the same but there you go.

    Then you went on to say;
    My brother lives round the corner from our mother, he's been sitting in the garden with her.

    As does my Mrs with her parents, who live round the corner from us.

    Not really that hard is it?

    Ultimately, it's up to the individual and what they are comfortable with.

    .....

    Your last sentence, er, no it's not, I guide you to points 7 & 8 in the link below;

    https://www.gov.uk/government/publi...avirus-outbreak-faqs-what-you-can-and-cant-do

    Quote; No, you should not be visiting family members who do not live in your home.

    So as I see it, @Chief has been advocating driving to a DIY store and visiting family 'around the corner.'

    At least now I am understanding the logic, which was what the hell was confusing me. Basically Chief does what he wants.

    Using the same logic, I could drive to family if others can drive to a DIY outlet, using the same logic, I could sit in a family garden to visit, because Chief's family is already doing that - so eh why not, fook protecting the NHS and STAY AT HOME rules. <doh>

    Sat in the garden.

    It's not THE LAW you know. This is all about being an adult and not having to have a set of 'rules' to adhere to, in both cases it has been a person walking round the corner and sitting in a garden, at least 2m away, and having a chat with their parents. I've done neither by the way but that bit isn't relevant, the point remains if you can do this while maintaining social distancing, then do it.

    Her parents have sat in our front garden and chatted to us. No hugging, hand holding, kissing or wrestling, just sat 2m+ away on the front lawn.

    Have I missed the bit where this is now against the law? Or are we all adults and know what social distancing actually is.

    None of this affects you one iota. Not one bit.

    Yeah mate, I do. None of which affects you or anybody else in any shape or form.

    I'm an adult, I observe social distancing religiously. To a tee.

    I've worked every working day since lockdown. I don't need my ****ing hand held, thanks.

    This ^ is ****ing criminal.

    My understanding of it (and anyone can correct me if I’ve got this wrong) is that they reduced the level of how COVID was classed in terms of infectious diseases in mid March.

    By reducing the disease classification by a level, they legally removed the requirement to provide the appropriate level of PPE for front line NHS staff in line with that classification and WHO recommendations.

    So they literally downgraded a disease that 10 days later they shut down the country for, in a cynical move to protect themselves from the result of their failure to prepare in advance and ensure the correct levels of PPE stockpiles.

    I disagree, the rules do not say, if you are maintaining social distancing do it. The rules state you can NOT visit family, who are not in the same home, unless it was for one of the specified reasons.

    And because I disagreed with you, you came across all sanctimonious about it.

    I don't think I've used the word law once, in any of this, if I have I shouldn't. Although you could be subject to a fine, under your interpretation of the rules, also it is not staying at home and protecting the NHS, because the rules are not being followed by your family.

    Like I said you do what you want, thankfully most of the 70 million population of the UK are following the rules, otherwise the death rate would be higher.

    If you can’t be bothered to watch it all then just watch the first 4 minutes.

    Edit: Just seen that sticker in the corner, I pulled the video straight from YouTube and hadn’t previously noticed it.

    Except they're not!!!!

    By the way, her Mum works at the local A&E in reception.

    You'll forgive me for saying this but if they want to sit on our front lawn then she can. As long as she stays 2m away then she's welcome, i'll just ensure there's no contact.

    What me and my family do is not the problem. That you're confused by all this isn't really my issue mate.

    My wife received her high risk letter a few weeks ago. Her GP rang the other day to see how she was getting on etc. She mentioned how she’s finding it hard to stay in the house and garden and not go for long walks.
    The GP told her that there is nothing to stop her going on walks etc as long as she sticks to social distancing and doesn’t go in shops. He basically said that whilst the government have had to set out strict guidelines, it is very much up to the individual to use ‘common sense’.
    He pretty much confirmed what I had been telling her from day one, but always nice to hear it from someone else.
    So went out this morning. Nice walk on a large field close to our house. She feels much better for it.

    Maybe next time don't come across as all sanctimonious when you clearly are not following the government guidlines. You clearly knew why I was objecting to B&Q opening. And you're right, it's none of my concern what you or your family do. But at least we got to why the misunderstanding existed in the first place. It was as I said, because you think you're more special then others, and will fit the rules to your sensibility and liking, fook what the government say.

    Been told that the lockdown restrictions will be reduced from the 7th May, meaning that Monday 11th will likely be the day a whole host of businesses re-open.
