There's definitely something strange going on and I'm not one for conspiracy theories.

Donald has gone from taking a huge loan and laying off staff to taking on a coach while no-one is playing, not even training.

We've no idea when me might play again or what the squad will look like.

We're not in a terrible position financially to ride it out for the short term. That's all I'm saying, that it's not a big enough loss to make someone like Donald give up on the dream of a big sale.

Appointments like this are neither here nor there, but more indicative that he wants to stay. I wouldn't imagine many potential owners would be delegating any of these appointments to him.

What I'm not understanding is how Donald can, as you say, easily absord a half a million pound hit, probably more, but needed to borrow money.

I wouldn't say it's ever easy for any business or person to ride out £500k, but in a world-changing event where losses are expected, losing ≤ £500k is not an apocalyptic scenario, especially given how bad things could have been. We were forecast to make a P&L operating profit this season (and potentially lose it again next season) so it's not an immediate short term disaster.

The convertible loan? Pretty simple imo. They and FPP wanted to spend it on top of our existing budget to progress the club, which could lead to them converting the loan to equity. If you have a business that is projected to roughly break even over the next 2 years, then it is stuck pretty much where it is unless it over or under-performs. Stick £9m in and all of a sudden, it should (in theory) start to do better even if the decisions aren't perfect. That was what everyone wanted.

Of course, because he pissed his pants in December, he has refrained from spending it on that and sat in a holding pattern for nearly 6 months now. That means we're probably no further forward with FPP realistically (again, IMO), but he hasn't burned those bridges completely and should theoretically be able to spend at least some of the £9m on players this summer.

    Theoretically...
