My trip back to UK next month is hanging by a thread:
- All international flights out of Jakarta cancelled except on the airline I have booked on, which is now only travelling 3 times a week instead of the usual 3 times a day. Cost of a seat is now 5X what I paid for it.
- UK government looks like it is mulling over imposing a 2 week self-isolation rule on all incoming passengers, with random checks to ensure they are doing this.

Latter will have a huge impact on people still thinking about taking holidays this summer.

 

What are you coming over for if you don’t mind me asking? Doubt there’ll be much going on here even if you can overcome all of that.

 

The weather in England is 10-20C and raining all this week. The weather in Jakarta is 30C+

And in England you’ll be stuck indoors unable to go anywhere...

Sounds idyllic

 

All domestic flights until 1st June have been cancelled here to try and stop virus spreading from Jakarta to provinces during Eid. There are also road blocks, with police checks on all main roads out of Jakarta. There's nowhere to go here.

 

See the Mrs. Consequently not too worried about the two week self-isolation as long as I am not allowed to go in the garden. It won't have been touched since I was back there last June!

If I have to isolate from her though it could be a long two weeks.

Hi mate, I reiterate what the others have said, everything is shut down, unless of course you are thinking of popping in the all essential B&Q to buy a strimmer for your overgrown garden, I'd stay where you are.

Good news though, we have plenty of bog roll now

Daughters friend who works in a care home has just tested positive meaning the home she works at in Southampton is probably about to lose a bunch of residents

 

I kind of get their feverous passion to defend freedom and liberty at all costs. Although the application of that is somewhat misguided at times.

Andrew Neil appears to have had enough of the government after last nights Panorama and this mornings ministerial car crashes.

No stockpile was kept for a non-flu pandemic,
a pair of gloves is treated as two items of PPE when issuing figures ( a box of 20 pairs was counted as 40 items to boost the numbers)
and a minister supposedly in charge of safeguarding has no idea why Covid-19 was downgraded in march from the highest level so that care staff were not required to wear PPE.
