I've heard it a few times now but we are finally being noticed by various people in and around the media....however they cant help to add that we have played 'easy fixtures'.

Albeit, we have played teams at the right time Arsenal were in disaray, Sunderland look ****e, Fulham are knackered already, QPR had a team full of new players (with no strikers), Aston Villa look a shambles and Blackburn look even worse.

However, these fixtures are only easy for one of the top 6 teams. Are we a Top 6 team?! No! Nobody will label us with that. So are their any easy fixtures for a club that are looking to finish in mid table? In fact, a lot of people say we are going down this season. So how the hell can a team that are supposedly going to finish 18th...had easy fixtures?!!
Surely the easy fixture has been for our opposition? No?

If you play Arsenal, Sunderland away, Fulham, QPR away, Villa away and Blackburn how many points would you have said we would look for in these games? I would say the optimistic of us would have us down for around 8 realistically. Some pundits would have us down for just 2 not naming any names Paul Merson, or 4 or 5 Mark Lawrenson.

But no, a team that has had its worse pre-season in living memory, that have lost their most influential players and have failed to find a proven striker are sitting 4th on 12 points....and more importantly are their on merit. We have played immense in a few of these games. Totally dominated Villa and Blackburn for e.g. Lawrenson said on motd "Yes, they won, but they played against Blackburn which was an easy game" Yea, the same Blackburn side that beat Arsenal last week and have won 6 games in a row at St James Park. We made it look easy due to our total dominance of them.

I for one hope all of these imbeciles keep ignoring us or putting us down, even if it's ever so slightly, because I prefer us to be against these knobs proving them wrong rather then have them jinx us with their horsesh*t.

Keep up the good work lads. From what I have seen in the rest of the league, the 7th place 'best of the rest' league position is a realistic target and I hope we get it.............as long as we keep wining these 'easy' games obviously!

    HTL HWTL!

couldnt agree more dont really need to add much! no doubt if we lose to spurs or stoke the critics will be straight back out saying we failed our first real test but thats bs arsenal (weak or not) ar still a good team and coming back from 1nill down against villa away from home is again a great test passed not to mention the closly fought derby which we scraped a win in difficult conditions with minimal time and space to play football ...surley this is the mark of a good team?

people can keep underestimating us and writing off our wins for all i care. You can only beat what's in front of you, and for the most part we've done it at a level exceeding what was expected.

It happened all last season, everytime we thrashed someone e.g. Sunderland (H), Aston Villa (H), Arsenal (A), Arsenal (H) [2nd half] etc.

It was always because the other teams played rubbish not because our decent performance stopped them from playing their game. I'm quite happy playing well and not getting recognition for it...outsiders for the title?:emoticon-0178-rock::1980_boogie_down::emoticon-0127-lipss

Like you say keep putting us down please! It helps build a siege mentality and team spirit. We don't really care what others think of us anyway.

If we don't win the title, I will be bitterly disappointed. In other news, my tongue just poked through my cheek.

If people actually look at the games realistically at the start of the season. This is what would have been expected by most.
    Arsenal H Draw/Loss
    Sunderland A Draw/Loss
    Fulham H Win/Draw
    QPR A Draw/Loss
    Aston Villa A Draw/Loss
    Blackburn H Win

This would suggest that 8 points would be a decent start for a team looking to finish in the top 10, which was our aim at the start of the season, so a realistic finish on this form for me would probably be about 7th or 8th.

Thought what Shearer said made sense, we love football up here and have a realistic understanding of the game. 8 or 9 would be seen as a good season (Not saying that is where we will finish).

Prefer to be trundling along and picking points up TBH, no high expectations or making the headlines for stupid reasons (Twats on Twitter)

Long may it continue and see where it takes us.

As Colin Murray said, Newcastles quiet Revolution seems to be getting louder and louder. Maybe we should quieten down a wee touch.
Great article though, its always been the same. Newcastle are never a good team, its just the teams we play are ****ter than us, apparently.

P.s. I remember writing a comment which wasnt far off the same as Ive just written on the old 606. Its been a few years of being put down by stupid pundits with no brains.

    This

I thought Shearer was very fair in what he said about us and I would be happy to finish 8/9.

I noticed that the ****er sat next to him (Savage) kept quiet about us and just said that Blackburn were poor.

Exactly, I thought it was a reasonable comment from Shearer - he was defending the fans saying they're realistic. I think 8th/9th would be a good season. If we can push for 7th I'd be ecstatic, but I doubt we quite have the squad depth for that.

I'm more than happy to be under the media radar and watch the team to go about it's business and pick up results.

Who cares if Lawro et al ignore the teams steady performances.

The players are not going to watch MOTD and think 'Blimey. Why haven't we been given credit?'

The proof that they need to show they are doing their jobs correctly is in the table and that's all that matters at the end of the day.

He could well be right, even if not its not hugely pessimistic. Time will tell when we take on the likes of Spurs and Stoke and the next few weeks, but as I've said we've got good results against Arsenal and Sunderland when not playing well, when the team clicks together who knows what they can achieve?
