We’ve got capacity but also an awful lot of deaths, tens of thousands probably, where people didn’t make it to hospital for one reason or another. Doesn’t add up to me.

 

Yes. He was a doctor so therefore it’s fair to suspect he may have caught the virus.

 

Last weeks figures will come out tomorrow. Up until the last week of March we had been slightly below the 5 year average. The last week of March the deaths were 1,000 more than average and then the first week in April it is 6,000 higher than the average and the 2nd week it jumps to 8,000 higher. We are now seeing the impact of Covid-19 but within that impact I just think we need to take into account the other rises in death related illnesses that’s probably being caused by the lockdown.



The top line is deaths this year and the second line is deaths over a 5 year average.

 

Letting people die in care homes helps keeps the pressure off the NHS I suppose.

 

Offering palliative care at home, rather than hospitalisation, to certain groups has been a strategy from the beginning. Sensibly so, imo.

 

Or their own homes. Where many people would prefer to die.

 

Are we sure this is real? I've not heard of anyone personally who has it or has had it.

 

That will account for some of it I’m sure.

Just seen on the news about the stabbings of a 1 Yr old and a 3 Yr old, murdered. A 40yr old man also had stab wounds, woman taken away in police car. Ilford London.
