Sunak seems like a very bright and eloquent guy. He’s clearly no mug based on his past career. He’s been willing to sell himself out to Johnson and Cummings where even Big Saj wouldn’t so I don’t doubt he’s ambitious. Not sure Saj’s sudden abdication of the role was down to ability though. When Brexit was on Saj was the public enemy like the rest of the Brexitiers... now he seems a decent fellow and Rishi who is becoming very popular is a yes man? So what does that make Starmer? He supported the doomed Corbyn all the way and agreed with all his policies... until he wanted to distance himself.
They’re completely incomparable situations. Javed left the second most powerful job in the country (third if you include the PM’s special adviser) because he was told to sack his staff. He was happy to back Johnson but it’s a big leap from that to accepting being a puppet Chancellor, which was effectively what he was asked to be. Sunak is clearly sharp. Not sure those big speeches a month or so ago are doing a lot for the self-employed right now as the banks drag their heels. Starmer is/was a Remainer. Corbyn was an ardent leaver for decades without even having a hedge fund-related interest in doing so.

Except that having cornered Corbyn and forced him to have a Remainer 2nd Referendum manifesto, and seen Corbyn solidly shafted at the election, Starmer has now appointed a Brexiteer to be his chief of policy
I appreciate that until we finally push the economy off a cliff some people won’t be happy including those who have lived very comfortable lives in part thanks to the EU but not everything has to be seen through a Brexit lens. Starmer is changing his colours. He knows he won't stand a chance of regaining Northern seats otherwise.
What would you do in his situation? There’s no convincing the entrenched that they’re wrong no matter how logical the argument. People are that determined to eat their **** sandwich so the guy can only play the hand he’s been given.
