This is true mate, even my own Consultant phoned me, around four weeks back, to check how I was, when do you ever get a consultant do that! My treatment is/was delayed because of COVID, I even received a letter more or less telling me not to attend the hospital! I still do not know when it's booked for, the consultant said he will personally ring back, around about now and reassured me I had not been forgot about. So when they say sick people are not attending hospital, it's because they were told not to!

So do I believe sick people are not going to hospital, yup I certainly do.

Saw it today and yesterday being discussed, it's become a problem and they admitted that they are worried some sick people are not going to hospital. Are they really surprised?

    https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www....-plan-week-redeploy-coronavirus-capacity.html

NHS hospitals could restart routine operations as soon as next week as the health service prepares plans to get back on its feet as the coronavirus crisis blows over.

Private hospitals have laid empty in the past week and up to 40,000 NHS beds are thought to be empty.

Routine operations had been cancelled and patients sent home to open up capacity for an expected surge in COVID-19 patients after stories emerged of hospitals being overwhelmed by the pandemic in China and Italy.

But the NHS has coped with the strain and hospitals are now keen to get back to business as statistics have shown patients in need are avoiding emergency departments and even going against paramedics' advice to go into hospital.

One healthcare boss has stressed that 'the NHS is open' and said he didn't think it was clear enough that people could still use health services as normal.

Others have said they want to get operating theatres up and running again as many of their beds lie empty, suggesting surgery could restart as soon as next week.

Health officials and charities have raised concerns that cancer patients are missing treatments and diagnoses, and that the impact the coronavirus is having on slowing down medical services is putting lives at risk among people who don't even catch the virus.

It comes after critics complained that a social media video of nurses dancing suggested that they had time to be doing more to help 'forgotten' patients.

NHS England will publish a plan next week to help its hospitals 'release and redeploy treatment capacity' that had been set aside to cope with coronavirus patients, the Health Service Journal reported.

This includes beds which had been kept free, operating theatres converted to wards, staff reassigned to the frontline and routine appointments and non-urgent treatments put on hold.

But the devastating tsunami of dying patients appears not to have come, with the overflow Nightingale hospitals relatively unused and NHS and government bosses insisting there have been intensive care beds available to all who need them.

Yeah I’d be concerned about going in now, as well. Not as much as I was a couple weeks back, mind.

I was supposed to be going in, in May, but I didn’t even get a phone call from the consultant, just a letter to say it had been cancelled and they’d be in touch sometime in the future to reschedule.

There’s a huge effort going on at the moment surrounding resuming normal services where possible within the NHS. I told you lot the other week.

Expecting some announcements this week or next week at the latest.

You only have to look at the cancer diagnosis figures to see the issue.

The daily U.K. diagnosis figure usually runs at about 1,000. Since lockdown that figure has dropped to around 200. So that means circa 800 people a day are being missed, due to people not visiting their GP, to cancelled hospital appts, to a lack of scans, biopsies etc.

What this will inevitably mean is that when things get back to some semblance of normality, there’ll be a huge spike in the daily diagnosis figures and unfortunately there’ll be many who weren’t treated as early as they could have been, who’s prognosis will be far worse than it would have been.

But the big question is should it be recorded as a Covid-19- related death?
