And, if we're honest, we kind of know that. You can't stop peoples livelihood forever, already signs in London that some are going back to work. At some point they will have a vaccine, which I guess would be given as in the flu jab to those in the vulnerable groups. I don't mean to sound cold but the world can't stop every year and from what I've read the warmer weather has no effect on the virus.

Will probably let millwall start back before Leeds then, your 60yrd hoofs don't need any contact.

No idea why you have started a new post when this one covers finishing the season, you could have popped the question in here and kept it all together

I didn’t start this thread, Eire did, your post is still covering the season finishing so in my opinion it would have been better in here.

Here’s a breaking statement from Colchester. Surely first of many clubs who will be forced to release out of contract or on loan players. If clubs are forced to play drastically weakened teams, then the whole integrity of the game is called into question. Expect many more clubs will follow suit the longer this drags on

Agreed but... If this season is scrapped, this club will be in the exact same position or worse by the time the season restarts. Scrapping the season now and restarting it behind closed doors in September then them and many others will still go under.

Someone said earlier that they can see all teams below the Championship going part time and I think it’s definitely going that way. This is either going to give the English game a huge correction in wages and fees or it’s going to give the elite few an even larger gap on the rest of us

It’ll likely make that European league they’ve been trying to set up, a reality. Would suit top six or whatever to pull away from the rest and continue to be awash with the usual obscene money

The French football season will not be allowed to resume, the country's prime minister has said.

Nothing to do with him - unless he's going to introduce a new law.

Even then, as I recall, FIFA can throw you out if your government interferes in your FA's independent status.

Yes that is true, and they have done it before, albeit with a smaller country than France.

Thread is six weeks old and we’re no closer to a resolution or seeing a football
Match in any country. It can’t carry on indefinitely in a state of limbo

Would expect plans to be in place. Let’s face it authorities in charge of football aren’t exactly busy at anything else. However, this is the most important element in that article

It also hinges on the conclusions reached by regular cross-sport meetings of senior medical officials discussing the health protocols for competing behind closed doors, which are set to start late this week.

Not much money bet, but still keeping an eye on it. The "will racing go ahead" for Cheltenham a few weeks back was mental with the money traded.

I think possibly we're not joining a few dots. French prime minister has banned all sport, as WJ says FIFA don't like government interference. However, the prime minister have left it to the French FA to decide how the season ends so in line with UEFA / FIFA. Thing is UEFA state that European places must be based on 'sorting merit this season'. To me that means you cannot null & void a seasons results. If voided then all results are expunged from the record as if they never happened, which means City remain champions (and the equivalent in France) and the top four from last season qualify. One breaking UEFA rules for 'sporting merit' and I can't see Chelsea & Leicester not challenging that. If France (or premier) decide the top four currently based on league position is the only way to ensure 'sporting merit' then surely you have to relegate based on the same. Whilst that might happen in France, the premier league are separate to the EFL & FA (maybe not FIFA or UEFA) and decide to 'declare' but not relegate anyone (as sNIffer has mooted on the other thread). Don't know where the football authorities stands on that but if sporting merit brings reward it should acknowledge failure. Appears the premier don't want to increase the division for one / two seasons. Lawyers wet dream this conundrum is.
