To be fair, it did come across as if you're being critical of someone taking the payment whilst not working. I'm sure you weren't.
Things can come across not in the intended way and I thought I might have worded it wrongly - but the subsequent exchange between Ellers and myself showed that he took it in the intended way, so that’s all that matters really. If someone offered me cash for doing nothing I would doubtless take it, and as Ellers’ employers clearly have a sense of responsibility for cancelling a contract and leaving him in a bit of a vacuum I don’t see anything wrong with it at all. I was really commenting on how odd it must feel. I will word better next time. As you know if I mean to criticise I won’t hold back.
I have never watched breakfast TV, always been a radio 4 man until a few years ago when the relentlessness of Brexit plus the show offy aggression of the interviewers started to get me down. When Sarah Montague left to do the lunchtime news that was about it. Now it’s on, but I only half listen.
Sorry.... as nothing of any note seems to be happening, except that the deaths go up, and we do nothing. So I have been away from the computer. I am looking forward to Boris coming back (yes honest Ellers I am) because nothing seems to be happening without hime now. We cannot seem to decide or do anything new, it is really sad and really worrying. No decision on coming out, on aircraft in, about changing the website for tests, for contract tracing...we are sleep walking until the beloved leader is back. I am assuming he will be back, and then things will happen and it will all be OK. I dio not care about party politics I just want it sorted out a bit better please BTW...anyone know if the other beloved leadr (of N.Korea) is still alive
Signed up the whole family this morning. We need something to happen soon, or Matt Baker will revert to full Blue Peter mode on Countryfile - this week he’s been drawing a picture of a bee, next week I fear a scale model of a milking shed made out of egg boxes and yoghurt pots.
well the advice to let anyone fly in from a country suffering from coronavirus doesn't sound very intelligent to me. Well that's what i assume from the advice seeing we still have many inbound flights
It certainly doesn't require the sharpest brain to figure out unless you dont actually mind the virus spreading.
Interesting observation. I was only thinking similarly. News programmes have got into a rut of reporting on just one big issue really in recent years. Brexit and now pandemic. They seem to have become incapable of giving us a wide scope of news anymore. We now have groups of reporters just re-writing the same news from different angles offering us all very little.
Interesting for morbid stats geeks. Doesn’t even slag off our government really so anyone can enjoy it.
I thought the same. They may be making mistakes but to say they are doing nothing is farcical. I am signed up to the government e mails and I'm astonished at how much is involved and what needs to be considered.
The whole story from the FT is interesting. The number of excess deaths over the average in the countries covered is far greater than the number of deaths attributed by these countries to COVID19. https://amp.ft.com/content/6bd88b7d-3386-4543-b2e9-0d5c6fac846c?__twitter_impression=true
