And Germany are further down the road than the Uk in terms of their lower numbers of deaths and infections so likely uk will be following Germany’s example among others

Cannot change the rules or laws? What rule says you can void a season with just a handful of games to play? This season is the 2019/2020 season, as long as we’re in 2020 there is no need to worry about next season. I can’t understand why so many want to void this season and prepare for next when we don’t know what the future holds.

This season will be finished behind closed doors with all players and staff being tested before they are allowed to play. Clubs will have to hire private ambulance staff, Sky will feature as many games as possible and with no crowds they might gain a few thousand subscribers or they might offer a special end of season football package.

Teams would be far more willing to conclude this season behind closed doors than start a new one behind them and nobody is going to be able to sell next seasons tickets.

Sorry, should have been clearer - I meant in terms of footballing decisions (within the law). Mark my words, money will play a HUGE part in this story.

Btw, what's your thoughts on my 'Sky chucking football' musing. It's a thought that just occurred to me - I have no idea if they make much money from football these days. They have a mature offering now compared to the early days. Football made them, but I'm not so sure they need it as badly now, unless it's a cash cow. Might still be! :)

There is an FA rule, admittedly at lower non-league level but it exists that if a season is 75% completed and can't be finished, the season is declared. Germany proposed right back at the start of this that they, if the season can't be completed, they would promote the top two teams from each division, no relegation and increase the number of relegations over the next one / two seasons.

Yeah, but you're not confident of your position and know we would go up, which is why you keep harping on about voiding the season. I can smell your fear <devil>

    I think
If season is allowed to complete, I am confident that Leeds will play us in the Playoff final.

UEFA today insisted all leagues to be finished by August. If that’s not possible leagues must be decided using a playo off system to decide European qualification and relegation. Hopefully we wouldn’t get drawn into a play off setup as we’d have a fair idea how that would pan out

Indeed. RKC Waalwijk were 11 pts adrift of safety with just 24 pts to play for. Den Haag 2nd bottom were 7 points adrift of safety as well.

Then in the league below you had Cambuur 11 points clear of the playoffs with 9 games to go. De Graafschap 7 pts clear. Gutting for these 2!

Ministers are working with medical professionals and football governing bodies to find a way to resume sport within “weeks”. Both Sky and BBC reported that the resumption of sport would help create a ‘feel good’ factor. I sense they’re going to find a way to resume the season.

The emphasis is still on the social distancing rules.
They are talking about the non-contact sports like tennis, golf, athletics, and cricket where it is possible to keep 2 metres apart.

Not that I played in March before it was suspended, but the golf rules/measures at the club I play at included, flags to be kept in at all times on the course. rakes had been removed from all bunkers, flagsticks removed from putting green, etc.

Got membership due in June so would be nice to play again. Not sure I'd fancy tournaments with all the messing about for 4 hours and the lack of a clubhouse afterwards, but would be nice to play socially.

Watched Sunday supplement this morning. Very good points put across. For example if leagues restart and a player comes down with virus, entire team would have to quarantined so unable to field a first team for any more games. If Liverpool win first couple of games and the league would they bother fielding first team any more this season and risking them. All in agreement that there won’t be any more football this season and now a matter of deciding best way to finish season off the field. Good to see they were also singing Leeds and Wba praises

That could happen next season. In my opinion the whole point of lockdown was to reduce admissions to the NHS to manageable numbers, once the first wave is done, restrictions will ease as you can't keep everyone in forever and reality is it will continue to spread as we get back to some semblance of normality.

There's still no evidence that once you've had it you'll be immune though.
Most of the scientist's are suggesting it will ease over the coming warmer months, then come back with a far deadlier vengeance after the Summer.

All the government officials keep using this statement "the new norm" - just be honest with us and tell us what you've been advised FFS.

Exactly. But the truth is governments and their “medical experts” are making it up as they go along. Example herd immunity no longer in favour but a month ago was seemingly the way forward. Some Olympic athletes have now begun to doubt if they’ll go ahead in 2021 so puts the idea of football in the near future into perspective
