Interesting story developing about the Liverpool Madrid game at Anfield and a spoke of those with covid 19 on Liverpool
Seems the Spurs players still haven't quite got the hang of social distancing . https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...d-players-social-distancing-guidelines-serge/
Non league have cancelled their season and UEFA have relaxed their season must finish attitude across Europe so maybe teams whilst still making plans to carry on have also got an eye on ending it all. Seems all the top clubs want to finish by June 30th but I cannot see the Government allowing them to play behind closed doors if we're all still social distancing.
This article suggests that clubs may abandon the season because of practical issues. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...-amid-growing-concerns-health-safety-covid-19
Nothing will be able to start until the Government say so which won't be as soon as they probably hope.
Must be something in the water in North London and footballers: https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/foot...ers-break-lockdown-luiz-xhaka-lacazette-pepe/
Unsurprisingly Jamie Carragher is very keen for it to be finished. Seems to be hiding under the relegation threatened teams must not be allowed to cancel it tag but we know his real reason!!
The Dutch Eredivisie season has been ended with immediate effect, meaning league leaders Ajax have been denied the title. There will also be no promotion to the Dutch Eredivisie or relegation from the top flight, following an agreement reached over a video conference call between the Dutch FA (KNVB) and clubs
This appears fair Frenchie - most Ajax fans seem to be ok. with it. In truth, although Ajax were top AZ Alkmaar were very real contenders, with Ajax top on goal difference. Both clubs get a ticket for the Champions League qualification stages and Feyenoord, PSV and Willem Tilburg all go into the Europa League - which is tough on FC Utrecht who were a game in hand and could have taken fifth place from Willem. Doubly tough because they had also got through to the cup final against Feyenoord. Apparently the League wrote to all the clubs asking for them to vote on various scenarios but then ignored the majority decision which was to have normal promotion and relegation based on the current League positions. Marc Overmars and Edwin van der Saar (CEO at Ajax) both wanted to scrap the season without a champion being chosen. What is sad is that I suspect that the fans will not now see those players who would have been going at the end of the season such as Hakim Ziyech - all will be done without the normal goodbyes. It looks as if the Bundesliga may be played out behind closed doors - but can we justify special treatment of footballers ? Apparently there needs to be about 300 people present for a league match to take place - can we really justify giving all of them Corona tests, when they are needed elsewhere ?
I read they might have to play in masks! That will never work.. I agree - the various Governments won't want to be seen given special treatment to footballers and others sports whilst people on the front line are struggling. Trouble is here money talks loudest….and the Liverpool fans will up in arms!
The Sun are being rather hopeful! Says clubs will have to pay for own testing and not use emergency services over the front line needs etc .. https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/11476053/premier-league-games-back-tv-within-weeks/?utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=sunfootballtwitter&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1587763295
This might put pay to game being FTA: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/s...Premier-League-games-free-season-resumes.html How predictable..
Another footballer in trouble after a party breaking the guidelines. Could we really trust them all to behave if put up together in a hotel for a few weeks ? https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www....y-everton-after-apparent-breach-of-guidelines
The Dutch PM - Mark Rutte has announced that all professional football is now banned until September 1st. Normally the new season would have started by then and, with the European championship scheduled for 2021, the season also should be finished earlier Apparently even a match behind closed doors qualifies as a public event, which are forbidden. The German Bundesliga is scheduled to restart in 2 weeks time behind closed doors. It appears that Rutte is acting now the horse has well and truly bolted having acted on the herd immunity theory for so long.
Players booked for spitting ? Be interesting to see how that goes ! https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...utlawed-resumption-punished-yellow-card-says/
