Those practise runs and outcomes would have been seen by other countries. I wonder if such draconian tracking was ever considered as a measure here? Will it be in future?

It is, they are called national minimum standards. Actually all care home staff have to be trained in handling diseases etc. They are use to 'lockdowns' when there is a bout of influenza. They are very well trained in PPE too.
Unfortunately unless staff are prepared to move in to the home, and they have the room to accommodate them, there is a massive risk they will bring it into the environment. Once that happens, clients are obviously very vulnerable.

I dont know of it Dennis... but practice in theory and practice in reality are two separate things entirely. They had the reality..

Crime reduced by 25% in the first few weeks. Don't know the breakdown. I guess less drink related crime? Fewer house break ins? Less fights at horse racing etc. Word on the street is the availability of drugs has reduced (around Brid)

The exercise also reportedly found that: The NHS lacked adequate ‘surge capacity’ and needed thousands of extra critical care beds to cope Mortuaries would be quickly overwhelmed Large parts of the health service would need to be ‘switched off’ Frail patients would need to be denied critical care Officials discussed diverting midwives from delivering newborn babies to care for the critically ill

Morturaries? Perhaps also included in another emergency situation, say nuclear war as an extreme, plane crash on a city centre. Each local authority will have a plan in place for such an eventuality.
Large parts of the health service would have to be switched of. Sadly, yes.
Frail patients would be denied critical care. Sadly, yes.
Midwives specialise in midwifery, maybe divert to normal wards. Untrained in icu. Which leads to extra critical care beds. Brilliantly achieved with the Nightingale Hospitals, which cannot find sufficient suitably qualified nurses to staff them.

When this first broke and affected areas and numbers were published. Way down at the bottom were two cases, The Western Isles. Oh dear (or something like that) I thought. How has it got there? This is going to be awful. And it is.

I read somewhere that arrests of dealers was up. Apparently they're still trading but they're more visible on the streets due to lockdown.

Just as a matter of interest, when I logged on this morning it still wasn't working, I have complained to IVACY, which they replied and asking which sites I was having issues with, which I have now sent them. However, I did what you suggested, even though I player was missing at the top, I searched and got into i player as you suggested, but when I tried to play a video, I was told it was not possible to access this video from outside the UK.

One of the issues was that care homes are not normally supplied equipment by the NHS, 84% of them are privately owned and under normal circumstances would be responsible for sourcing their own equipment.

    I know that
The UK test of its pandemic plans will have included the fact that we are all reliant on the private sector, and will have identified this type of pressure on supplies if it was done properly

It's a bit weird here at Heathrow Airport. It's almost deserted. All the shops and restaurants are closed.

There are people here not only in masks, gloves and goggles but also the white paper boiler suits with hoods. Not just one either more than a dozen.

It was a right palaver watching them strip that lot off on the way through security. Then them putting it all back on on the other side.

This is likely to be one of several issues that the future will bring

Between undiagnosed illnesses, domestic abuse killings and suicides, I think there's a very serious risk of deaths far exceeding those caused by the virus over the coming couple of years.

Domestic abuse killings 'more than double' amid Covid-19 lockdown

    Don’t worry

A cure might be on its way now Trump has suggested we simply try and get UV light ‘inside the body’ and maybe just try injecting disinfectant...<doh>

EDIT- DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME
