He is coming to the end of his time as automatic choice. With AVB it's not the name that counts but what you do on the pitch. We are slowly but surely moving the ball quicker as a team. Players who slow us down are being weeded out and others brought in. Soon be Romeu for Mikel and Anelka on his way at the end of the season. The transition is under way.

well put - not very sure whether Carlo would have done that.. Have to be strong to ask a guy like Lamps to be in the bench..
wish he gradually asks the same to Drog and start with Lukaku (and Not Kalou)

I think in january/end of season kalou and malouda will 100% be sold, avb has indicated he has no use for them by hardly playing malouda and not even bothering with kalou apart from the carling cup which is music to my ears, i really like AVB his the manager we need, i haven't respected a manager like i do him since mourinho e.g. he will play people on form whereas Carlo didn't have a clue what he was doing last year. The best thing about AVB is you can already see the change in the way we play so early, look at torres last season where we couldn't even get a pass to him and now everyone seems to be finding him and were attacking so much faster. Put it this way i thought the Carlo sacking was harsh and didn't want him to go but AVB is showing why maybe it was a good decision to sack him because football these days you can't play the mourinho way ( defend defend defend ) you need to play fast attacking football which we lacked so badly last year, our whole build up play was just awful. But with AVB you can just see the change so early in the way were playing and his taking over ( Buying talents for the future and playing players on their form not their name ). Good times ahead

Lamps is bright enough to know he cant run around like a 2 year old anymore. He also knows with the first team squad committed to 3 major trophies ABV will have to ensure he doesn't screw up because players aren't getting sufficient rest. Using him selectively will be best for him and more importantly, the club.

Because he feels more comfortable than standing next to it.

As a Scottish supporter, I wholeheartedly agree <laugh>. Still believe we can squeeze at least couple of seasons out of him. As they say, there's life in the old dog yet <ok>
