Could be either, could be a bit of both. Tbph i’m not particularly arguing either way, I just find it funny that a scheme that’s done **** all so far and has admitted it might take months before it has any benefit is being used to attack the government. By the same people who attacked the government for an order from turkey being a day late. The hypocrisy is hilarious.

I’m not even defending the government for not doing it - if I was in their position I’d have been looking for any avenue I could to try to meet demand and would have looked to engage with the EU process despite being a leave voter. So don’t mistake this for me defending the position of the government, this is me laughing at the lengths people will go to to attack a government because it isn’t the one they want.

Yeah it should have been a warning. On the other hand last year a report came out ranking us as second most prepared in the world for a pandemic. Clearly wrong but you could be forgiven for choosing one or the other between the 2016 simulation and 2019 Report.

I also think governments across a lot of the world just didn’t think they’d end up dealing with a pandemic like this. The false dawns with things like Bird Flu gave a false sense of security to a lot of people and governments which ultimately has proven to be misplaced faith.

Seriously it is a Corona virus update can we please just stick to that - the military had no reason to be there that i can fathom.

****ing hell creepy Pete, priceless.... and not in the slightest bit surprising, he'd probably argue the women he interacts with on twitter are slender supermodels... despite the evidence to the contrary

Without the military, the hospitals would not have been constructed as quick as they were. Without the military, certain logistics would not have been achieved. I'm grateful for the military's help and I would not disrespect a high ranking forces personel any more than I would a doctor, by calling them a squaddie. But I guess as it's the Tories, it's open season as per the norm.

    But opinions eh ;)

it was more i didn't pay any attention to which rank he was as i was too busy trying to work out what he was doing there .
My problem is not with the military ,or the work they have done , but why he was at a Corona virus update . Personally wish they would shorten the whole thing and just deal with the nitty gritty rather than loads of "soft soap" .

It’s the view I took myself along with millions of other people round the world - that like other diseases that have started in Asia in recent history it would die out before it became a major problem. Obviously that was wrong! But the logic behind people thinking that way is pretty obvious.

Totally entitled to your opinion dude...... I'm the other way in my opinions on this fiasco....one of us is right.

The results of the simulation cygnus was alarming enough not to take shorts cuts on the British public,. now we've got cut short.

The strange thing is you are attacking me for holding the same view.

I'm not attacking the government for choosing to/not to sign up.

I'm questioning why the misinformation about whether we are/are not involved, had/hadn't been invited and had/hadn't decided not to use it.

    This ^

There’s 2 issues for me with this. Firstly that they chose to lie about the reason we didn’t participate. The claim that we didn’t get the emails has been shown to be demonstrably false, as we were involved in some of the meetings, which Hancock admitted.

Secondly. Is why they chose not to participate. As admitted in the CSC yesterday it was a political decision. So when they chose to make the call, it was about the ideology of Brexit, which given the context was simply barmy.

    I’m not attacking you buddy.

I’ve got no issue with questioning why decisions are being made or looking back when we are further down the line and seeing if the right decisions have been made. Though I would promote caution in villainising (why is that coming up as a spelling mistake with no alternative spelling? This should clearly be a word if it isn’t!) decisions made under the current circumstances, whilst also not absolving the decision makers of responsibility.

I do however take umbrage with those questions being presented as an attack or used to vilify decision makers to suit an agenda, which is often why they are asked. Which is why I pointed out how the same people would happily use the EU offer not being taken up as an example of government failing whilst ignoring the failings of the EU scheme. Or attacking the government for a late PPE order whilst hailing the EU scheme which has faced longer setbacks.

Edit: maybe vilifying was the word I should have used... though I do like villainising...
