Right, what baffles me, is when so many pundits like Souness, Merson etc always say “it will be a huge struggle to get top class players upto the north east” why? Players have that much money they could go to London every night if they wanted to. But what’s the great obsession with London/Midlands etc? I live in Birmingham, moved from Gateshead about 4 years ago, I genuinely enjoyed living in Gateshead more (not just because it’s my roots) but just in general. Newcastle is a great city, anyone living there should be proud to live there. Footballers should want to move to a club to PLAY football, what better place than Newcastle, a football-obsessed city. London is so ****ing overrated.
ultimately this opinion is them telling themselves what they want to hear . You have to remember these people support Two of the clubs that will have some concern for whether nufc will be the next city and put their position under threat , so the human brain goes searching for things to soothe it's concern and one of the things they stumble on is this Myth that you speak of.
