I think the point is, when in political discussions it is very easy to get labelled (and turned against) by those shouting the loudest in one direction.

I understood exactly what he meant, we had a politics thread running for (what felt like) about ten years.

 

You are entitled to your opinion. Other people are entitled to theirs. I don’t really see the problem tbh.

Not sure why having an opinion about politics should be any different to having an opinion about football. So long as everyone recognises that I am always right, we’ll all get along just fine.

Unless there is evidence that it either will never exist or won't be delivered until after the supplies are needed then both points are irrelevant as to whether we should/shouldn't have taken part.

That's the question, as it's quite apparent that as ppe is needed right now.

The answer, as the BBC article that was posted itself states, is no, it has not yet been delivered.

 

You think because PPE is needed right now, it won't be needed next week or the week after?
No, I'm sure your smarter than that.

This is about having sufficent supplies throughout the pandemic not just tomorrow. It would be a real shame to see the supplies currently be delivered and then there being a shortage again in a few days because we didn't exercise all opportunities to obtain supplies.

No ... but Stan's point stands ... all participants were asked to submit orders that will be delivered in the "next days and weeks" ... we'll get nowt and one plane full of stuff from Turkey ain't gonna solve our chronic shortage...

Did you miss the two planes that came in over the weekend from China and are part of an on-going order?

 

think a bunch of these companies in the UK should form a consortium to then be able to say that they could manage large orders which seems to be a concern of the NHS procurement in that they don't want hundreds of small scale suppliers / orders .

 

I don't live next to an airport, so yes I missed the planes ... can you keep us updated as this is important and my trust in government announcements is at an all time low

 

Correct, the Turks are playing the same game with us as they did with Italy.

Have you noticed they have now changed from "didn't order it until Sunday" to "Government didn't know about the order until Sunday"?
