Kuesenberg alludes to "Yes Minister" and the whole debacle does seems like one of the more far fetched scripts from that show. Has all the hallmarks of entrenched politics over common sense and population protection. Unbelievable. <doh>

I'd agree. However, how many times have I been reminded on here that the media is supposedly bias, and none more so than the BBC, so I do find a tad of hipocrisy in all this attachment to the story. Let's not also forget Italy were virtually left to fend for themselves in the beginning. Germany hoarded stuff and didn't want to share for the first week or two, as I recalled it back then, it became dog, eat dog and I used those words. It was not until the Germans were nudged did they change their footing. Yes, so whatever the debacle of this affair, I think it was disgraceful how Europe acted as a whole, but that's what uncertainly to the virus brings, uncertainty what to do, but at least it showed the true colours of certain leading powers, I point at Germany and the US when I say that. What does this all show, to me, the world won't change one bit, no lessons learned again, because all of us are more interested in finger pointing blame.

I have a slightly controversial question... not that I’m against it as I’ve donated funds myself.

All this money that is being raised for the NHS... firstly is it necessary, I mean are the government not giving them a blank cheque to tackle Covid-19?

Also, there’s no guarantee it will be funding the front line. It’ll end up in the coughers to bring in more useless ****ing ‘strategic development analysts’ etc no?

See John pilger for evidence on NHS money..... This was before the **** hit the fan..... Ofcom played its part in allowing its airing until after election.

Ever get the feeling you've been hoodwinked..... Keep feeling it because it's here to stay until the voters wake up..... I'll not hold my breath

I don't think it's a controversial question at all, it's a perfectly reasonable question, only you've been more upfront to ask it. I suppose it comes down to what the fund raiser would like to see happen with it, although I'm not aware of a said cause other than under the NHS banner.

It's quite an interesting question, because I personally would like to see it towards something that a government wouldn't pay for and I expect the choices could be endless. Indeed a very difficult question to answer, as long has it's used to respect the wishes of the dear old gentleman that raised it.

My charity of choice used to be the Ronald McDonald House Charities, long story, but back in the day, there never used to be anywhere for the parents to stay at our childrens hospitals.

Having a sick child is challenging enough, and you want to be as close to that child as the circumstances would possibly allow but travel, expenses and many other things can cause stress, especially on those with limited incomes, at a time when you need focus on a loved one.

The reason I note that is because I know accomodation was one of the problems raised this time round, especially for front line workers. Just a thought, not an answer.

Yeah I think it was about £20m that bloke raised. That would pay for a lot of things, but it could also (like any charity) end up being pissed away into marketing/directors or some other black hole. It should go to the NHS staff directly, to pay for their rent/mortgages, bills, food, travel etc imo, not into the coffers (thanks Meowth).

What worries me is down the line when the heroes are forgotten again and the filthy vermin of this country start visiting solicitors you see what they can sue the NHS for.
