Put it down a few months ago, great MC but seems like a bit of a dickhead. Dangling his album out and teasing with tracks until his captive audience grew bored of the hype, then when he dropped it, it was bang average. Ripped Tory Lanez a whole new arsehole when they had beef tho.
Never thought of them as soft. They started out as a Hardcore band before getting hooked on the NY hip hop scene. The Sounds of Science compilaton gives a good account of their stuff, worth a revisit imo if you're not a big fan.
Some ****ing heathens on here don’t know their hip hop history. The Beastie Boys were pioneers in the game along with Run DMC, LL Cool J, Public Enemy, Jungle Brothers, De La Soul and Rick Rubin at Def Jam they were responsible for bringing hip hop to the table after the likes of Grandmaster Flash and DJ Kool Herc first brought it to peoples attention. If it wasn’t for them and the path they carved, you wouldn’t have had Biggie, Tupac, Busta and everybody else who stood on their shoulders. Licenced to Ill was a groundbreaking album. The 808 on that was the keystone for a ton of styles that came after. Shocking level of lack of understanding from folk who call themselves headz on here. Should be a hip hop wall of shame for these wack niggas
