    I don't feel too bad.

I live with a mate so its not like I'm alone.

I feel for those who are completely isolated.

I'm also a bit of an introvert so it doesn't really bother me - odd wobble aside come the weekend when I want to see other people and have some beers.

Guess the ONS figures have been mentioned today as I can't be arsed to do a Bobby and read back.

Number of deaths in Care Homes rises 5 fold in one week to over a thousand and this data has an 11 day lag so very likely as of today it will be even higher.

Equally important, the number of deaths for that week was 40% higher than the figure reported at the time by the government.

And almost 8000 higher than the average for the past 5 years as well as the highest weekly death toll in 20 years. There can be little if any doubt this is NOT the impact of just another wave of common flu.

Some positive from the ONS data is the lockdown could have had the desired affect and we may have hit the peak on 8th April. We'll have to wait and see further ONS figures to be sure though.

There is a chart that shows the deaths plotted by date of death.

The figures on any given day are for deaths up to 3/4 days previously.

It looks to me that when the numbers are in for a given day we are averaging around 600

The government data on the day is always for the day before. In the U.S. the reason the data has dipped in the past on a Monday was because, being the weekend, there were fewer registry of deaths. May be the same contributing factor here.

Either way it's not great. Still too many getting infected, still too many dying, still nowhere near enough testing.

This is a really informative thread.

UK hospital numbers falling is a positive sign.

My mother in law called today. She said she can’t understand all the fuss about PPE. Her friend’s daughter is a doctor in a hospital and she has PPE.

I thought his approach on why per capita, population and population density were not good factors for consideration, was very good.
