Exactly Ken. Roland received so much vitriol and abuse (rightly or wrongly) of course he bit the hand off the first genuine buyer even if it was only for £1. Fans wanted him out, he wanted out - job done! He has protected his investment by separating the assets from the ground, and knowing what we know now, it seems he was very wise to do so.
I believed you were better than this. A bit of leg-pulling aside, I used to think you were OK. Sad to say I was wrong. Feel free to carry on winding me up if it amuses you. I'll not help you do it any longer though.
I never said it was in any way the fans fault Lardi, merely that there were quite a few who at the time thought the EFL were more worried about other clubs and should have waved the ESI tskeover through with a nod and a wink. But RD wanted out and sold to these two, offloading himself of a business where he was despised. He ran it poorly to begin with, and in a nigardly way when he lost interest, but while the budget he gave Bowyer was pathetic, can you honestly tell me we are better off now?
Who has ever suggested we are better off now? Of course we aren't - the Club is about to be kicked out of the league and liquidated. I have speculated previously that in the end we will be better off. Years from now AFC Charlton will be free of Duchatelet. But that is not a preference or a choice. It is just a prediction of a future that cannot now be avoided. Other Charlton fans can believe Duchatelet is an innocent party in this if they wish. To me it is obvious that RD has done this deliberately. Even if Roland did not know that Nimer was a fraud, the Belgian still sold the Club for £1 and held a charge over the Valley & land, which he gets to keep if ESI don't pay him £55 million in a couple of months. But Roland has never said he will buy the Club back if ESI can't pay him. He will just keep the Valley & the land to sell or do what he wants with. Maybe he will offer to allow CAFC to become tenants at the Valley, but even that would only happen if ESI or another owner of the Club can afford to run it. Yet there is no evidence or indication that ESI can afford to run the Football Club, let alone pay rent to Roland. ESI cannot even provide proof of funds. Because of this, in a few days the EFL could dock Charlton points or even expel them from the league. Anybody who believes Roland Duchatelet is not in any way responsible for this situation sees the world very differently from the way I see it.
You really think Duchatelet deliberately sold to crooks and left them with £3M to syphon off? Or do you think he left the £3M as a goodwill gesture to keep the club running till the end of the season? Just pause and think about that Lardi
Yeah, but Lardi, I've seen it mentioned a couple of times that Richard Murray helped bring in this deal. Do you think RD told him to go out and find a couple of schemers to bring the club to it's knees, and Murray thought that would help get himself back onto the board? Even Nimer and Southall don't seem to have known much about each other, so sorry but the idea of this as Rolsnd's grand plan is way too Machiavelian for me.
Whether Duchatelet actually knew that Nimer was a fraud or just didn't care (and we know he didn't care) is beside the point really. And as for poor old Richard Murray... He has supported and defended RD for the past six years. Hardly a glowing testament to his judgment of character. Roland said - on the record - that Charlton Athletic Football Club was worthless. And then he divided it from its stadium and land, and sold it for £1. Is that responsible stewardship? Roland is not CAFC's most hated (legal) owner in history for no reason. He fully deserves that legacy.
You can bet your life Pinky and Perky will not be able to produce the paperwork required today for the EFL, then they will be given another deadline. Hopefully these idiots will put themselves both in the s*** and we'll be left with a football club at the end of it.
Have just listened to the entire interview between Jordan and Southall. Is there ANY chance that Southall may be correct about Nimer and Southall is a victim in all this? I am not winding anybody up here. Southall is fronting this out and once he got up off the floor from Jordan's body blows, he is very clear in his own mind when he goes on the attack with Nimer. Just a thought.
There is the problem. I can't see Southall as anything but a spiv. But part of that comes due to all the stuff in febtuary/march. The flat. The cars. The January transfer f@#% up. But this comes at least partly from Nimer. A new buyer would be helpful, but as the club and ground are now separate, imagine trying to negotiate with all the separate owners.
Very interesting points made in Ricky's blog... http://www.votvonline.com/home/the-...s-not-1984-failure-would-be-one-man-s-choice/
