    Early team news:

Cardiff: The Welsh side had to use all 3 of their substitutes against Leicester to replace injured players, with winger Craig Conway, striker Robert Earnshaw and then defender Mark Hudson all hobbling off, making them doubts for the visit of Southampton. Rudy Gestade also pulled a hamstring but carried on in vain as all subs had been made. Malky Mackay will asses all the injuries before Wednesday's tie.

Saints: Lee Barnard and Radhi Jaidi are still some training sessions away from featuring in the squad, with Dan Harding in a similar situation, so Danny Fox will continue at left-back. Nigel Adkins otherwise has a near fully fit squad to choose from.

    Last Result:

Cardiff: 0-0 draw Vs Leicester (H)

Saints: 1-1 draw Vs Burnley (A) (Schneiderlin)

    Predicted Saints team:

    ------------------------------------Davis------------------------------------------

    ---Richardson--------------Fonte------------Hooiveld-------------------Fox--------

    ---Guly-------------------Hammond----------Cork---------------------Lallana------

    ---------------------------Lambert----------Connolly------------------------------

Subs: Bart, Martin, Schneiderlin, De Ridder, Chaplow.

~ Despite Guly do Prado being ineffectual again away from home, I think Nigel will stick with him. Similarly with the central-midfielders, Cork and Hammond will provide more bite against Whittingham and Cowie after struggling against Burnley pair Marvin Bartley and Chris McCann. De Ridder to make an impact of the bench with the winner and Saints to nick the win, 2-1. An OG after a Lallana cross giving Saints the lead, Whittingham free-kick pulling Cardiff level. ~

I didn't watch it either but they apparently did better in the second half, despite the injury disruptions and offered more than Leicester?

Leicester should have won it in the end really, shocking miss from Vassell in the last minute.

Not to impressed by either side to be honest. Very few clear cut chances created by both sides. Vassell hit the bar in the last minute.

We will win by 1 or 2 goals. As sotonsaint said, neither team impressive though Cardiff could try and block us out and try to win on break. Depends how ambitious they are.

The game today was poor, the first half was worse than a league one game, all hoofing long ball football. It would be stupid to write Cardiff off, as they are a good unit, but I have a good feeling about nicking all 3 points.

Only player that slightly impressed me for Cardiff was the lad who played right wing, and even he didn't play that well.

Careful people, the teabag from Brighton will be on saying how arrogant we are on saying how many goals we will score. I am going for 2-1 to the SAINTS.

I'm guessing you mean McNaughton (the silver fox) - he's our right-back. We don't have a right winger =(

We were ****e in the first half, a lot better second. Very scrappy game but we've got a small squad and the injuries were very disruptive! Looking forward to the game on Wednesday, how many are you bringing down? I haven't really seen/watched any of your games this season so not sure what to expect, hoping we can sneak a win though!

Let me see now, we started with a narrow 3 - 1 win against Leeds, scraped a 1 - 0 away to Barnsley, a narrow 5 - 2 win at Ipswich, a resounding 1 - 0 win against Millwall, well beaten by 3 - 2 at Leicester, another scrambled win 3 - 2 against Nottingham Forest, a tight 4 - 1 against Brum, and a lucky 1 - 1 draw at Burnley, you have nothing to worry about, our best striker hasn't scored this month.

Should be easy then, we'll just have to turn up and bag another three points then.

The Saints look to take the game to the opposition whether home or away. This makes us (in my biased view) a very entertaining team, but slightly vunerable to goalmouth scrambles. I wouldn't even try to guess the outcome on Wednesday, but I'm sure there will be goals. We have scored in every game so far including two in the only game we've lost. So taking everything I've said into account, this will probably end up as your second nil niller in a week.
