    Some of us attend matches and can hear these things ourselves instead of reading it on Twitter :biggrin:

    I remember it clearly cos we all found it hilarious in the away end and a couple on the other side of the segregation looked a bit embarrassed.

    Hahaha!!! Silly, desperate bitters! My brother-in-law used to curate those tours. The fact there's a song about Ian St John on one of them might have given them a clue. Btw, remember when Everton were selling T-Shirts of their 'great' crowds? It was actually a picture of the Kop in the 70's. <doh>

    Indeed. As someone who worked in Liverpool for a few years straight after Istanbul I can confirm an estimated 4.7 million liverpool fans attended.

    certainly not, some people around them threatened to but they put their hands on the arm and said " wait, we're Liverpool and we cheer our team to the end irrespective of the scoreline, we're more than a club... (insert repeated circle-jerk cliches until end of time)" and they were rewarded.

    Did you hear our fans singing YNWA at HT in Istanbul? And there's no denial that several fans left at HT - they couldn't wait to appear on documentaries afterwards to tell the world what a mistake they made. Jeez, takes some real barrel-scraping to try and take the gloss off Istanbul; I don't think I'll ever celebrate it again now that you've said that.
