Do we charge anyone from anywhere in the world for coronavirus treatment? Or any infectious disease treatment for that matter? No we don’t, is the answer. How is highlighting a positive thing about the NHS defending the government?

The government has made mistakes, the NHS has made mistakes, they’ve also both got things right. It’s going to be a mixed bag during a situation like this. Just because I don’t subscribe to the constant barrage of talking down everything and over the top blame culture doesn’t mean I’m “defending these things”.

 

We are already doing it and have been since this started. Admitted we haven't shipped people in yet but i don't think that is Germany's intention.

 

They are not my government and their decisions do not directly affect me.
You have highlighted the 'yeah but' nature of any conversation with you.

The relevance to us was both points raised in the tweet actually and I responded to both.

 

Also depending on where in the country you look we do have spare capacity. Newcastle for example are not expecting to have to use their fully kitted out 460 (off the top of my head) bed nightingale hospital at all as they have enough capacity to deal with the number of cases within their hospitals already.

So you are equating foreign nationals who live and work in this country ( many in the health service). To helping other nations whose healthcare system has been overwhelmed by covid-19.

Do you not think other countries have similar foreign nationals in their countries?

They are all dying in care homes and the nightingale hospitals are unstaffed unless the hospital provides it.
