Virgin Australia were good when I used them but I wouldn’t personally go for Virgin Atlantic. I do know pilots and crew who work for them and spent years in the industry waiting for their opportunity for their dream job with Virgin and absolutely love working for them though and it’d be tragic to see both their perfect job and the income for their families lost because of coronavirus.

 

No I wouldn’t. I really wouldn’t. Some principles are of far greater importance to wider society, and the sheer temerity of a tax haven billionaire wanting a bailout is one of them.

And here’s you arguing the case for a Billionaire bailout because........the working man. Oh the ****ing irony.

 

Except I’m not am I? I’m saying hopefully Virgin will find the funding from elsewhere and that if the government ends up helping it needs to be a loan and paid back. That I care more about people’s jobs than making some idealistic point.

 

I used to be a frequent flyer with them in the early days on long haul. Anyway they fooked me off one time, so I never ever flew with them again, and went to their rival at that time BA instead. Also used Monarch, who were actually decent back then, obviously in recent times went bust. I think Virgin Atlantic have got a fooking front asking for bail out, tell them to fook off.

He’s highly unlikely get a loan from elsewhere unless he underwrites it, as the business isn’t profitable.

Given its financial performance in the last 6 years it won’t stand a £500m loan, so the Govt could well be chucking its money down a black hole, same as it considered doing with Flybe, another part Branson owned business.

It’s a shame Flybe failed. It was struggling already when it was bought by a consortium that included Virgin in the hope of rebranding and keeping it alive but it always seemed a punt and with coronavirus arriving its days were numbered.

It was great for keeping parts of the UK connected and **** for those who regularly used the service and those who worked there that it went under.
