I forgot that PSG is owned by Chairman Mick Thompson, a guy who made his millions as a builders merchant. With this crisis he needs to maintain his cash flow or he will lose his Villa in Lanzarote.
Including making sure he buys just 80% of what he wants from Newcastle. He doesn’t want to be greedy now.
it's nothing to do with him... the point being made is that the value of ALL players has dropped, so anyone with money now is walking into a clearance sale... not many have money to spend .. why is this so hard for you to understand? whether you admit it or not it's abundantly clear that you're unhappy at the fact nufc is going to have the potential to do very well. I'm sorry, but everyone knows it ... even you .
Being reported today that if the deal goes through there will be £200 million made available for players and club improvement ... seems realistic ... but a bit short of a revolution ... we got £85 million selling Maguire to United (OK we burned them ) ... but it does put things into perspective.
To put that into context, our owners have spent £350m of their own cash at Everton so far. On everything from debt removal, ground improvements to player spend.
Our new training ground is costing circa £100 million ... I suspect the 'club improvement' element of the Toon takeover might be infrastructure too ... which might not leave a huge amount left for player purchases .... just saying.
If a Saudi prince fancied dicking about with a football club as a plaything, he might well employ the services of someone like Staveley to find a suitable club to purchase and negotiate a price for it. However, would that process take 2 years and end up involving both her and another investor as stake holders? Doubtful. Which screams out that it was Staveley who lead this from the off and then sought investors. She’s managed to hook the National Wealth fund of Saudi, who invest for profit in numerous businesses worldwide. Yet it’s still taken absolutely beards to argue over the price and put some convoluted loan in place. None of what’s going on at Newcastle seems to be lead by Saudis eager to create a football super power. None of which means this is a bad outcome for Newcastle though, just maybe not the ‘billions and billions’ that some seem to think it signifies.
Getting Mike Ashley out of the club was the best thing they could have done and they might just do a Wolves, you never know ... but Wolves had the ability to ram raid Portugal due to the links they had ... it will be very different at Newcastle although Allegri would certainly raise their profile in terms of the ability to attract better players ...
I’ll be absolutely astounded if Allegri takes over at Newcastle. But if you’d have asked me last year about Ancelotti coming to Everton I’d have laughed in your face, so anything is possible I suppose.
its a good amount at the start in a buyers market tbf.. they will get higher in the league and keep cranking it up. You can't just go out signing 80 million plus players.... they dont wanna come firstly. maybe a few expensive old big names and good young talent..... like I say these guys aren't interested in mediocrity ... they will just keep going..... they will I'm sure let everyone know its plan for 2030 and they intend to build slowly.. nufc have a net spend of 5 million a season over the last decade... 200 million this summer plus whatever the other 2 cash injections over the 3 years as reported is well beyond our wildest dreams. Will there be set backs ? of course..
Same people that built Man City's... the claim is that it will be the finest in Europe once completed ... what it does do is show the ambition of the club and the commitment of the owners ... it's all about laying foundations for sustainability and a tour of that complex for prospective transfer targets can only strengthen our credentials as an attractive proposition.
it mate fesle my guess is that is the way the saudis go... you cant just spunk money on silly overated players until you're up that end of the table.... invest in training ground etc doesnt come into FFP either
