    Just for the record.
When I say this is what you voted for I mean the royal you. As in the country.

I'm not holding each and every Tory voter responsible for this crap. I'm holding the Tory party and their paymasters responsible.

Doubt it would help. Although if you could get through to Tory voters who think all non-tories hold them personally accountable I would be impressed.

Tbh I think the Labour Party through a woeful inability to provide a viable alternative at the last couple of elections due to pandering to the harder left elements of the party and activists shoulder some of the responsibility for the kind of governments we have ended up with.

Before the red flag wavers start foaming at the mouth, I’m not saying Tory policy is the fault of Labour, I’m just pointing out that if they hadn’t been such a **** show in recent years we may well have ended up with a different government or at least an opposition that felt like it served a purpose and pulled the tories more to the centre ground.

Sorry I don’t really follow the logic. The Labour Party being further left than it had been pushed the Tories further right?

They weren’t a viable alternative so the tories didn’t have to focus on the centre ground, they could court the more right wing voters.

Agreed but it can't be done carelessly (not suggesting you think it should btw).

Children and staff need to be safe so social distancing must be a priority.

It means serious consideration needs to be given to maybe only allowing kids to go to school where all both parents/carers work to begin with.
That would create space in classrooms.

They might have to have children in on alternative days or weeks.

Or set up portable classrooms in playgrounds etc.

All of these possibilities raise serious issues so they need to be explored.

We have been warned that the consequences of this will mean life will not return to normal for months possibly up to a year so we (as a society) can not expect schools to just take up where they left off until it is proven to be safe.

    Enough mistakes have been made.

I think as you have, that it will and should be a while before life returns to 'normal' again. Even the luxuries in life of pubs/restaurants have said, they need three weeks notice, just to get up and running again. All this is additional time, added on to government time served on lockdown. My mind does question why the government are not releasing an action plan/schedule openly, it would help businesses plan better. Hence I can only read into non communication that the lockdown will still be in place after this three weeks. The government need to be clearer, not for you and me, but for the economic impact of planning ahead. Even if it's, well if this happens x, y, z.

I think it was more a case of Tories feeling threatened by UKIP\ Brexit party that pushed them right. The polarization of politics has effectively removed the center ground.

They definitely shifted right to counter the threat from Farage but couldn’t have done that and held the large part of the centre ground vote if labour had offered an alternative that the centre ground could believe in.
