Different leagues will come to different decisions as not all circumstances are the same. I believe Scotland start a new TV deal as of next season so was always going to want a quick decision regarding this one.

 

So why do they have to do that if they make Liverpool champions and declare the top four places, for instance? Is there a rule for unprecedented situations with these there force marjories in place?

It's the only comparison we have but is a very good one,nobody had mathematically won or lost anything so they just scrapped it, exactly like now.

But they're not scrapping it now, are they my geographically challenged little pip-squeak? There is a crazy acceptance that three quarters of the way through a competition is not the same as one fifteenth, and null and void is not going to happen. You can sulk about that if you must, and/or pretend you have some moral argument that isn't totally born of rampant self-interest, but rest assured we'll be kissing both the Prem and the asterisk(s) you put on it.

Why should they set the top 4 places whilst they ignore relegation? As barring Liverpool none of the other current top 4 have secured their place in it? So it’s the same situation as outlined for Villa only in reverse as the other clubs in the chasing pack could have overtaken them.

There’s no rule for what happens in this situation and any decisions made will be by consensus of the current league - a minimum of 14 clubs needs to agree iirc.

 

You appear to be quoting a rule there. Does that one apply when unprecedented situations and force mujahideens are in place? Or is just Diego's moral compass spinning in the direction he needs it to go?
