Our current league position suggests we are. We've lost some big big players since last year and still bringing the results in. It's a difficult one for me. I think our best 1st eleven is on the same par as last season but lack the depth in the squad more than last season and we lacked the depth back then.

Either way I am chuffed to bits with the start to the season and long may it continue.

    Yes we are better.

As has been said already the table doesn't lie. Our players are as good, our tactics are better and our players gel better as a team. Whether we are better on paper or not is irrelevant, it is what we do on the pitch that counts and on the pitch we are definitely better.

  8. Yes we are. We lost our best striker, but we've now got two good ones, instead of one good one and Nolan in support.

We have much more quality in midfield, and we have a more solid defense.

Pardew has organized the team very well, and I'm sorry to say this, but he's a better manager than Hughton.

Yes. We've replaced everyone with the exception of Carroll and Enrique (time will tell regards Ba/Best and Santon), brought in more numbers to give us more depth in midfield (still defenders required in January) and have Ben Arfa, Gosling and Steven Taylor fit and available. Couple that with results and league position and I can't see how you could think otherwise.

Much better imo. Players like Cabaye are the types of absolutely class creative players who can act as the engineroom for a team. He ****s all over Nolan in basically every department apart from goals.

And Ba and Best really do look like scoring in pretty much every game they play in.

    errrh yesss!

The table definitely doesn't lie. We've only really had two bad performances which for me were QPR and Arsenal (face it, L'Arse were there for the taking!) Even when we've played badly we've still got something out of it- a sign of a good team, no?

I'd say our playing staff has improved slightly but the biggest difference is this year Pardew seems to have a bit more of a plan rather than sticking two tall players up front and hoofing it. Our play is much more intelligent and possibly a little pacier.

Yes we are because we sold a duff horse to Liverpool for 35 million, got rid of an old man, a trouble maker and a player who wanted to leave.

We're all rightly pleased with the start we've made. October and November will be a better indicator of where we're at. So far we've played teams that are really spluttering their way through the early stage of the season. Those are Arsenal, Sunderland, Fulham, Blackburn and Villa - none of who have really got going so far (despite Villa being unbeaten). But three wins and two draws there is admirable - you can only play the opposition put in front of you and our general overall play of late has been very pleasing. Mainly the second half v Villa and the match yesterday. QPR are the only side that really came flying at us and it was pleasing to keep them shut out and take a point back home.

The strength in our midfield is amazing. To think the likes of Marv, Gosling, Ben Arfa and Ferguson weren't in the starting XI yesterday. So when we do play the big boys we've got extra ammunition to call on, and Santon still to feature.

We are so obviously better than last season. Basically everybody has covered the reasons why, but just thought I'd add to the Yes chorus.
