I attach a reply to a Steelmonkey on the lockdown situation in Poland from the Geek thread which may be more appropriate in this thread: We are fully locked down and it was implemented at an early stage with the closure of borders. The other controls are quite rigid and consist of only essential travel, no more than 2 people together in public areas (and 2m apart), children and teenagers cannot go outside without a parent, all parks, squares, beaches and forests are closed to the public. Shops are closed, except for supermarkets, bakeries, chemists and petrol stations. The limit of customers in shops is defined as x3 per checkout, so we have staggered queues outside shops. The lock down is respected although the police can and do issue fines. Those on official 14 day quarantine are checked upon on a daily basis in case of any needs, plus for their presences The fines for breaking these compulsory 14 quarantines are hefty! As the lockdown was implemented early, to date we have just under 7k infected and just under 500 deaths related to Coronavirus. However, the level of testing is low and needs to be increased. But clearly the graph has been flattened compared to Italy, Spain, France, the UK and the USA As of this Thursday it will be compulsory to wear a mask whilst in a public place. The madness is that the government in power want to hold a Presidential Election in early May. No comment! The medical services are coping, although there is an ongoing issue for enough PPE. Several non viral hospitals and many care homes have suffered from this. As in all countries, the health service personnel are in the front line. Overall, we are surviving. I am working from home now for a full month, and this will now be be my 5th week. I am pleased that I have a large garden and can go for unimpeded walks with my wife in local area with the dog. Let’s hope that relatively soon we can return to some form of a normal life!
The news this morning was reporting a likely 3 week extension to the lockdown to be announced soon, this seems to me to be suggesting false hope and there does appear to be increasing talk of when the lockdown measures might be relaxed. Surely we arent anywhere near this stage yet? Again I just wish they were firmer on their messaging, just tell it to us straight. This isn't going to be over in three weeks so don't get it into people's heads that it might be. Obviously we could all do with a bit of hope but we need realism as well. Even when restrictions are eventually lifted presumably the virus will still exist so it wouldn't take much for it to kick off again. I don't know, is this only really over when we have a vaccine?
The Lubeck one was Euroimmun AG, who I believe were taken over last year by GE or Perkin Elmer which produces test systems and automation solutions for medical laboratory diagnostics. The Dresden lab was a national spin off from the old East Germany hospital diagnostic system that we helped get on the road, but they very quickly outstretched us. I do not know that either place is testing to be honest..but if they were they would do it better and faster than we could I would predict.
I know it's a bit rich coming from me but ffs I reckon NHS staff have enough on their hands at the moment. I deal with FOI's in my job and they are a pain in the arse. If it is a conspiracy you are hardly going to get an honest reply any way.
Depends how you read it. I read it as ‘we’ll review again in 3 weeks’, no promise of end or relaxation. It’s over when: - there is a vaccine; or - there is a reliable treatment which saves the lives of a significant numbers of those who end up on a ventilator; or - we’ve all had the disease and got over it with a bit of immunity. The first two are the subject of a worldwide effort, we don’t need to rely on our government to deliver, just to buy them when available.
Staines get it done,I was late getting mine & now I'm stage 1 prostate cancer, on what they call active surveillance, my next hospital visit will be done via telephone, dont putcif off and if there is one thing I would hope for is that all 606 brothers over 50 do the same
Stupid @@@@! It's patient confidentiality. They won't give it to him and he is wasting valuable workers' time?
I had mine done peter as it showed up on blood tests, had MRI & biopsy & came up all clear & no cancer, relief I can tell you! At 69 I didn’t need that, hope it clears up Peter
Glad you had a positive result Jeff, it was the biopsy that confirmed mine but that was 9 months ago and my PSA readings have stabilized so I'm optimistic
We can't afford to wait for a vaccine in my opinion. The longer we're in lockdown, the more problems we're creating for the future. Yes, it will kick off again, but the NHS should be better placed to withstand a second wave, and we would then be heading for herd immunity. Some adequate PPS and ventilators will be required, though. The mystical antibody tests would be a big help, too.
He would be finished. Thing is it wasn't staged because I heard the interviews from the parents. Are we then calling NHS nurses liars? It's total 22222222's dreamt up by people who have an axe to grid with Boris. TBH there are plenty of other ways of attacking him.
Boris is really not that convincing an actor I am afraid. Everything he does gives you a feeling it is staged He would not have been able to pull it off in any shape or orm
maybe. They all be recorded and once it's over we will get the real total. Saying that it still depends on what's on the death certificate?
