My guess and it is a guess but based on logic would seem to be that the Club has been bought and that the “Charge” is to do with Ashley’s loan which we don’t seem to be paying off for some reason but transferring the loan from current owners of Club to new owners of the Club. But I could be miles off.
Seems very likely that's the case. Either way I'm pretty sure Staveley hasn't offered to take on Ashley's debt for no particular reason....
It's pretty similar to having a charge removed from a house in property sale - there is an agreement to pay off the outstanding debt (mortgage) with sales proceeds - in this case I would imagine that charge is simply being handed over to Stalvey. So Mike isn't giving her anything but £150m worth of debt - nice guy that he is.
If this does come off, and I still have a degree of caution with Ashley affairs, I'd have Kevin Keegan back as head of player recruitment. If there's one standout thing he was really good at, it was acquiring talented players.
He was good at that, but listening to player interviews it comes across that what sold the club to players was wanting to play for him. I'm not sure how that would translate to him attracting players to play for someone else.
No. I think it’s the other way round. Mikey is the Lender and Mandy is the Borrower. Therefore, Mandy will owe Mikey £150M when the deal is completed. Presumably Mandy has thought this through and will have the spondoolies to pay Mikey as and when each payment falls due.
