My mate who works in Germany was offered a test very early on, however, it clashed with his return home so it never happened. When he spoke to his boss in Germany a week later she was shocked that he hadn't been tested here.
Theres a hierarchy here.
1st for testing: Rich % Famous
2nd: Politicians (if you dont fall in the above category)
3rd: Politicians children (Gove)
4th: all the above for a second test
5th: minor celebrities
6th: nhs doctors and nurses
7th: other front line staff
8th: nobody else

I don't trust China with anything they say. Just look at Hong Kong and the number of protesters that have disappeared or been imprisoned on crap charges.
The story about the 're-education' camps for Muslims. It reminds me of Nazi Germany.
Countless stories of anyone questioning the state seem to disappear.
The weirdest thing recently was the whistleblower doctor who spoke out suddenly got Coronavirus died that night, cremated and returned to the family in an urn a day later?
As I said I wouldn't trust them as they are dangerous.

Agreed.
Sorry to go off topic but I rate China a bigger concern than Russia or anyone else for that matter.
They building artificial island around the world .... ( for what ) .... along with all that you have mentioned.

Our government here in Oz have allowed them to take out 99 year leases on two ports, Darwin & Newcastle..... totally unbelievable.

I did hear very early on, I no longer know if this is true, that the Germans had a very different accounting system.

If a person who died with only symptoms of CoVid and tested positive they were classed that they had died of CoVid, but if the patient died of something else , say a progression of cancer or heart disease, even if they tested positive they were not ascribed to a CoVid death, even if an "opportunist" infection of the virus may have sped that death up.

But early detection and treatment would certainly be beneficial, and would provide a must better recovery . Germany had anti-viral testing and contact tracing in very early. They also have a different national character and a different leadership than we do. They get things done. All together they were better prepared.

They also have a drug manufacturing and diagnostic assay production centres in Germany. The two I worked with were in Lubeck and Leipzig/Dresden both of them would have easily been turned over to population testing within days.
They also have nearly 4 times as many hospital beds as the UK does, a proportionate number more critical care beds, staffing to match, a federal system which allows quick decision making at regional and local level, health and social care funding which is transparent, equitable, encourages investment and supply in health and social care and is relatively non politicised, and in the case of COVID19 they traced, tracked and isolated the infected rapidly from the very outset.

****ing hell Frome, what are you playing at? The rules of this place are that if someone asks you a direct question the last thing you do is ****ing answer it openly or honestly. That’s for mugs. You ignore it and use it as an excuse to spew out unrelated stuff, usually a rant against your political enemies, some unsourced opinion dressed up as information which supports your worldview and hopefully with a bit of abuse thrown in for good luck. And when anybody responds to you in the same way you tell the world how hurt you are and publish a ten thousand word retrospective defence of everything you have ever said, done or thought which proves you right about everything, always.

Get it?

Who would do something like that ?

I lived in Australia in the late 80's (Perth). I remember back then that Australia used to sell iron ore and other products to Japan and China for next to nothing and they would turn them into cars and other stuff to sell back to Australia for a lot of money.
I agree that artificial Island is weird. I have said for years that if China wanted to ever invade somewhere it would be Oz :emoticon-0107-sweat

Ah clarity that you have been talking absolute nonsense for years then. You can't just imply no matter how loosely that China might/have an interest in invading Australia. This is the sorta inflammatory language that the media rightfully get **** for, it's the sorta thing you'd expect to read in the sun or mail. It's not going to happen so why say it at all?

Whatever happens, the final death toll will be recorded. They made that clear in the briefing. They are not trying to hide numbers and all deaths will be recorded. What was worrying news was that in 24hrs 92 retirement homes reported cases. :emoticon-0101-sadsm This disease will kill off many older people.

Some stark warnings from here.....

Ireland is likely to remain in virtual lockdown for much of 2020 to fight the coronavirus, it has been starkly warned.

Hopes have been dashed that some of the toughest restrictions on social and sporting life will be lifted by summer, and there should be a return to relative normality soon.

Chief medical officer Dr Tony Holohan said people will be dealing with restrictions of one kind or another until a coronavirus vaccine is available.

But scientists have said a vaccine is 12 to 18 months away.

Police have launched an online tool to help grasses report breaches of social distancing. For ****'s sake.
Did they get their online tool from on here, we seem to have some spare.

After me being contrarian on this issue a couple of days ago I now have a close to home example of vindictive grassing and stupid policing. Dickheads.

Two worrying reports on the BBC 1 o'clock news
1. The Scottish government are "concerned" that specific PPE destined to Scottish Care Homes System have been rediverted to England for the central ordering hub, leaving Scoottish care homes without the PPE they were expecting and had paid for. Matt Hancock is currently unable to comment
2. The UK has 3 times declined to join in with a EU central order for PPE, because, we are doing OK without it.

I would propose ...that perhaps we are obviously not doing particularly well on ordering and distributing PPE at the moment

Who were they if you don't mind my asking? Understood if you feel you can't answer

I really hope neither of those are true
