I'm missing enjoying my visits to The Bishop's Palace Garden in wells it's stunning this time of year,BBC 1 at 1-50 PM there's a show called Heavenly Gardens from the gardens with the 3 wells, i sit on a bench by the largest either reading a book or listening to music while watching the dragonflies hovering over the water, hopefully they'll show the moat with the swans that ring a bell below the office window to be fed which has been going on for decades now, take a look to see why i love Wells so much.

Bit of fun last night. I was sitting in a 2 seater settee watching the TV and suddenly noticed one of our puppies was stood motionless looking at the unoccupied seat on same settee. "What are yo looking at" I said and turned to look at the back of the settee expecting to see one of the cats asleep along the top. But no. Then my eyes dropped and right by the side of me, also watching the TV (well it was facing that way), was the cutest little field mouse. It was quite happy being next to me. I burst out laughing and told the wife to take a photo. She is scared of mice and told me to get it out but I couldn't stop laughing because it just stayed there as if it was his place. Eventually I decided to catch it and put it safely outside. But then the little bugger ran off: After a few minutes, with the aid of torch light, looking behind this and that I was about to give up when I noticed the puppy on the floor peering under the coffee table. Sure enough there it was. But when I tried to catch it it zoomed off into a small gap by the fireplace. Armed with a small cardboard box and a rolled up envelope I tried to coax it out but I couldn't see. So I got the torchlight and shone it into the gap and it had gone. But then I noticed the tip of its tail poking out from the box. And there it was happily in the box. I shut the lid and took it outside to release it by a pile of wood. Nope, decided to stay in the box. So I then took the box to some long grass and out he wandered.

Then one of the cats had it

No, just kidding, there were no cats around so hopefully the little field mouse is happily back in its natural habitat

Of course if he was watching his favourite program he could be back to see the rest of it, so I put it on record just in case :emoticon-0102-bigsm

You just reminded me of an Office I worked in a few years back. It had a mouse problem and one of the girls who worked there caught one. She wasn't scared of it. She very gently took it out into the car park to let it go. A fecking great seagull swooped down in a flash and ate it whole. The girl was gutted but the seagull was happy. That actually happened. You need to get yourself a pet seagull Ron.

That very poetic post by Mowgli above leads me to think he must have been reading Mills and Boon whilst sat in the garden .................I nearly kissed the wife when I read it. I did say nearly............

The poor little thing probably won't last long with the cats we have but it brightened up the evening and this morning relaying the story to son and daughter. We are animal lovers and always try our best to save any animal. I actually keep looking to my right to see if the little fellow is back and feel a little disappointed that he hasn't returned Managed to get a photo as a momento

Don't tell my kids as I have a reputation to keep up but I quite like animals as well. I couldn't deliberately hurt one and if I had to kill one to eat I'd become a Veggie probably. If I don't see it die then I am quite happy to eat meat in a carved up state. I make one exception and that's the cat next door. My wife always gives it a tit bit or something every time she sees it out in the garden area. It returns the love by crapping in my garden virtually daily. Guess who has the job of cleaning it up.........

You should do the gentlemanly thing and return it greeny. Just use the shovel and flick it back over. To make it more fun find some targets on their lawn to aim at

The dilemma is I quite like my neighbours. He was an IT Manager and perhaps might be a boring barsteward but he fixes my machine every time I cock it up. I'm quite good at cocking up gadgets. He's very patient to my face but what he says in the privacy of his own front room could be very different. Yep, bollox to him I've decided I am not that kean so his lawn gets it tomorrow. Thanks for the advice. It's surprising how you get a different picture when you talk it through.

Just don't let him see you greeny. He'll just assume his cat has crapped on his lawn. If he's chucking it over, that's a different matter <laugh>

Under normal circumstances I would have been heading down to greeny's part of the world today usually after the bank holiday madness is over I go down to devon for a few days break but I guess it's the Costa del stokenchurch for me this year. Bloody virus ,I could have been strolling around the moors ,visiting dawlish torquay and paignton as well oh well keep safe everyone <cheers>

I have seen the size of some of the seagulls in Cornwall & Devon poor things must be starving without the holiday makers dropping their chips, pasties & McDonalds all over the place.

All sorts greeny. All the swallows have returned for the summer and nesting already. Lovely to hear them when we sit outside having a chat and cuppa But we also have a few buzzards and they are quite big

Anyway I was assuming that when the wind blew the cat **** off the window, it would just leave a stain and matey would assume (knowing there weren't any cats that tall) that it must have been a bird :emoticon-0100-smile
