I'm all for optimism but June is only 7 weeks away.

The death rate is rising and we're busy preparing more new hospitals and mortuaries ...

... sorry but the UK is in a big mess and there's no short term fix.

IMO any premature relaxation will produce a second wave of infections.

Just taking about this at work, why are the media asking the government questions about the relaxing of measures when we've had nearly 1000 deaths today.
why are the media putting it into the minds of these numpties that things are going to get better in a few weeks just before the Easter weekend, these clowns don't need encouraging to ignore the current rules.
The media need to take a long hard look at themselves over the negative and frightening way they have handled this crisis.
A woman at work is waiting for the medics to switch off her husband's respirator cos they can't do anything more for him, he's in his 50s ffs.
This is nowhere near coming to an end and it's time the general public accepted that fact.

Couldn't agree more, the media are idiots.
The lockdown will end when it's safe to do so, and we're at the very least a month or prob 2 away. Even then it'll be gradual, area by area with London possibly the last.

Some of the media stuff is bewildering mate.

I was watching the evening news and there was a man, in a wheelchair, leaving hospital after two weeks in intensive care.

The hospital staff were forming 'an honour guard' and applauding him as he was pushed away.

Well of course that's great for him but almost 1000 people died today.

It's like when there's a Turkish earthquake and some old Doris is dug out a week later ...

... the media make a big deal of it, the watching public go 'Ahhhh' and everyone forgets there were thousands of dead.

This is an ongoing nightmare and a few happy little stories won't change that.

Ex-England defender Norman Hunter is being treated in hospital after testing positive for coronavirus, his former club Leeds United have confirmed.

As I've posted elsewhere it's not actually the daily total they're publishing

Deaths announced each day have not, for the most part, happened in the past 24 hours but are spread across the days and weeks that came before.

Yep, and what a some people don't realise is that those figures are only NHS hospital deaths - this does not include Care Homes or Community deaths, which also may be Covid 19 related.

I wonder how many road traffic deaths and fatalities at work are being saved ...

... and how this balances the work put onto funeral directors etc.

Excuse my ignorance here but do Prem clubs get the Sky money upfront? Do they get interim payments? Will they get the Sky money if the league is postponed?

I can remember a time when we were all blissfully ignorant mate ...

... I may be naive but I think football was much better before we all had to become solicitors and accountants.

They've already had the broadcast money. The conversation is now about how much the Prem are going to have to pay back. Possible, but unlikely figures are £371 mil to Sky, £341 mil overseas broadcasters and £50 mil to BT.

They'll do some kind of deal where they promise them future rights at an agreed price imo.

Has anyone else noted that our friends north of the border have managed to get themselves in a complete meltdown over voting or not voting to end the football season.
Not wishing to intrude on anothers grief, especially as the English FA etc are not noted for their compentcy either. But a warning that the conclusion of the 19/20 season will not be easy.

I must admit I haven’t kept up to date with this but why can’t the teams who have played one match less just play them and everyone is equal and base the season on that, is that not fair?
