Well it's not my solution - mine is to finish it even if it takes to September and start next season late, or average points if it ends here. But Null and void is the most pan-headed of all: it appeals to the majority because they're not benefitting from the season ending. It's the national equivalent of United fans invading the pitch to try and get their game against City in '74.that relegated them abandoned by invading the pitch

How about if it finishes later than September? October? November? December? At what point is it just ridiculous and clearly not this season anymore?

And at what point does continuing this season destroy next season? Do you think it’s worth messing up or writing off next season for the sake of playing the final 9 games of this season?

Why is it more fair to take current results as final, ignoring the 27-30 points still on offer which could entirely change every clubs position, rather than null and void?

On the middle paragraph, I would say yes. Re-structure next season if necessary. There are a bunch of reasons why that won’t happen but it’s what I’d prefer.

Grossly unfair. Norwich need to be relegated as they're Dunky's team, and Leeds and Albion need to go up. And York need to be promoted from The National League North. And Leicester deserve CL football too. Though I know several west Ham fans that I like, I'd like to see West Ham relegated just to see Legs-akimbo-Brady crying. And I'd genuinely like to see City win that first CL too: they deserve it. Aguero and Silva deserve the full set. So yes to the cup competitions finishing, even before the league, imo.

If football can’t start until much later in the summer it would basically mean a choice between cancelling the rest of this season or cancelling next season as there isn’t space to fit an extra 2 months of fixtures in. Unless by restructure you mean have a different league format or something? One game against each side? Just a knockout tournament or series of knockout tournaments?

By definition, next year. In fact, if seasons ran Jan - October they'd tally with the 2024 WC in Qatar. It can be done if there is a willing.

Yeah. Chance to be creative. Depends how long you have but some sort of reduced number of games and a playoff format maybe. Could be fun.

I think the clue is in the phrase "null and void".

I remember a game between West Ham and Crystal Palace which was abandoned (thanks to floodlight failure). Looked it up and Palace were leading 2-1. It became null and void. Surprisingly Palace didn't ask for the scores to be carried forward when they played again and West Ham won 4-1. Crazy times.

You can save nearly a month by bringing the Prem teams into the cups later and making the European games knockout from the start. Again, if there's a will you can cut it right down.

Think that would be the case even if a team was 5-0 up with ten to to go tbf.

Interestingly in Spain they just re-arrange to play the remaining minutes, or used to at least. I remember Real Madrid having a rearranged fixture which was something like 4 minutes only to play from a previous abandonment.

Damn it you didn't spot the sarcasm! <whistle>

I quite like the Spain way. Do they do that if it was because of BEEF on the pitch?

How much later is it even possible for prem teams to join the cups? And how many rounds of games do you think that would save?

See I think I could get on board with that due to the upcoming Qatar WC (2022), think it'd be ridiculous to play out the rest of 'this' season in 2021 though and that seems a reasonable limit.

Would likely have to be a lot of other leagues doing the same though, as UEFA will do their competitions by the majority, which could be an issue.

I remember a full season that was three-quarters of the way through and it was abandoned due to the coronavirus outbreak. The positions were called were it ended. Belgium. Crazy times indeed.

Sky have already stated that if the season was cancelled they would not make clubs bankrupt by demanding a return of monies paid out
There would have to be a readjustment of payments for next season to even things out
