We booked it in January, have been wanting to take son & granddaughter on holiday for several years, but its not happening. See how it looks next year. Live in Brid, so family can come to us if lockdown over & no 2nd/3rd wave happening. We will see.

So the number of cases and the number of hospitalisations has plateaued over the last couple of days so they’re hoping it’ll start to decrease next.

Most people will hardly have any ill effects. Next winter there will be a rise in deaths just like with seasonal flu. The main problem now is transmission to the vulnerable. This will ease over the next few months.

I booked on the KLM website. I think I can get a refund voucher for a future flight, but I’d sooner have the cash. Thankfully I’m nowhere near as much out of pocket as you. Good luck.

It's because of those who didn't isolate (seems to be the stock answer if probed at the daily briefing )

They might not, but they'll probably find drugs to better alleviate the symptoms. Bit like HIV maybe? There's no cure for that but new drugs have stopped people dying from it so much.

Hard luck. Have you registered a chargeback claim with your bank? Or credit card co? I think more chance of success with a credit card if you paid that way as it’s a legal thing under the Consumer Credit Act if you don’t get what you paid for. With debit cards, it’s just Visa or Mastercards own rules.

Long story but was diverted to Fort Lauderdale when San Juan refused our cruise ship permission to dock. The cruise was extended by 2 days but we lost our return flights from San Juan to Manchester via Atlanta. Trying to recoup our losses with Lloyds bank atm.

Yeah, but Steve and Alex have asked me to pop over for beers at their villa in Portugal. Would be a shame to miss that one.

I think ultimately what will happen Plum is countries will not want to fall into the ownership trap. Every developed country will come up with a vaccine which will likely be along similar lines to others. I cant see secrets being stored when the world is at risk. They will share information, successes and failures. I still think AI has an important role in this.

Its a truly awful situation for all, but especially for those that will have lost their lives. I hope that it will not be in vain and the world we inhabit might just become a better place.

Who knows whether we have had it?
On Friday, Mrs A had two episodes of a really severe and persistent coughing fits which lasted at least half an hour each. No break, just continually coughing. Ive always wondered if I'd recognise a persistent cough, as so many do seem to be coughing. This left me in absolutely no doubt. At the same time, the news showed someone with the disease, coughing. The cough was absolutely identical. Nhs 111 describe a persistent cough as 3 similar episodes over 24 hrs. She is on the original vulnerable list due to health reasons (not the highly vulnerable). She had no further episodes (or even a very slight cough) and no temperature. It was quite an anxious weekend waiting to see if this was going to develop.
That was weird. She has never coughed like that before, even when she smoked. Is there such a thing as a mild dose? As she hadn't left our house for 10 days, she can only have got it through myself, and I have had no symptoms.

    Hmm
Some interesting bits, but also highlights the point I made about bringing manufacturing of some things vital to the running of the nation back into the UK.
Yes that requires a completely different economic model, as opposed to ‘cheapest wins the contract’ rules, but that doesn’t make it impossible. And actually it’s not hugely different to having the Govt running a steel manufacturing plant...which is pretty much what they’ve been doing in Scunthorpe for ages until the new buyers.
Oh and his 15 year old anecdotes about the public sector rushing out to spend money at year end may have been true 15 years ago...they certainly aren’t now

    interesting rubber facts though...

I think they’ll go up next few days
Less deaths are getting registered on a weekend, and even less so probably on a BH weekend
No idea why but it’s been consistently the case so far
