It’s not just because of the Olympics. The league has already said it would require about 2 months worth of fixtures to finish the league. So that’s two months worth of games to be played in your opinion before a new season.

If football resumed in August that’d mean this season finishing in October, then a break and transfer window. That’s 3 months to be caught up in the new season before the euros.

The idea that we should just pause the season for the euros and olympics and then start again after and play the remaining 2-3 months is ridiculous. It makes that season a joke like this one is.

Next season wouldn't need a large break since players are rested now. The transfer window is a joke anyway, no one moves until the last 48 hours so just make it that long, or scrap it entirely like football used to be (Barcelona already make a mockery of it by buying a player after it closed because they forgot to have a backup for an injury).

I accept a pause for the Euros but still don't see at all why the football should pause for Olympics.

Nope, absolutely nothing you have said there is 'clearly' fairer than any of the other proposals put forward, and completely delusional wishful-thinking to say that it is. Somehow, in your world, it's fairer that Norwich are not relegated than it is that Leicester are denied CL football. No, that's just not fair at all. How would Villa do in all the scenarios bar null and void, btw? I haven't checked...

'Honest'? FFS Tobes, even you don't believe that. Honest? We're still a month from when the season would have ended anyway, but she wanted to call it off the first time a player self-isolated.

It's fair because it's a blanket ruling for all, whether you come out of it better or worse.

So just remove the transfer window and play the end of this season and next season with no break? I suppose that’s one way to do it! Bit **** for teams who have players out of contract or loan players and then can’t replace them though!

And there shouldn’t be a break for the euros either! It’s ****ing ridiculous to continue the league beyond the euros and into the following season. That’s the whole point, it causes chaos and disruption for years to come if we don’t end up writing a season off (assuming this season can’t be finished before next season).

I mean it is clearly fairer as no-one has earned anything this season yet as it isn’t finished and mathematically no teams are relegated etc... it’s just resetting the season.

Whereas finishing the season with average points per game screws a load of teams over by assuming how they would finish the league.

As I’ve said it’s hard luck on teams who have done well so far this season and looked like they would end in a good position, but they haven’t got to the end of the season and realised those goals.

I don’t see how you think it’s fairer to penalise teams for the season ending early?

Sounds more like you're making an argument to cancel the Euros than cancel the league.

Hang on, you accused me of being fatuous and irrelevant - you are seriously comparing calling off the '39 - '40 season after THREE games when war was declared with ending a season that is three-quarters of the way through by null and void? Seriously? I mean, IF it has to end (and we have a month before that decision needs to be made anyway), then why null and void? There at least three other scenarios for ending it where it is, and Karren Brady (and others too :emoticon-0112-wonde) were calling for null and void even before we had lockdown. I wonder why....

They could cancel the Euros and the Olympics to ensure Liverpool get their title. Nothing else matters, right?

    You dope.

    Blanket doesn't mean fair.

Death for all crimes is fair? It's as blanket as you get.

You've just said, if you end the season early it's not fair on someone. What we're talking about is the option that is the least unfair, and in no way shape or form have the null and voiders demonstrated that is their option, despite the scramble for the bogus moral high ground.

Their, not the. That is subjective: and Brady's early intervention reeked of just that.
