I suspect you'll be ok. The UK and US will probably push to restart flights at the earliest possible date, just as they were both slow to shut everything down. Greece is talking in terms of tourism getting back into swing in July, as long as their curve remains flat-ish.

Depends on the airline, depends how you booked the flights. A lot of airlines have been desperately trying to dodge their responsibilities, as have online travel agencies.

Ive been keeping an eye on Greece and their statistics and cant believe the low numbers in both deaths and cases.
which got me thinking. the way they are enforcing lockdown with signed forms giving your reason for being outdoors and passes/tickets to go shopping, arent they just delaying the inevitable? ie maybe they too will suffer a crisis but it will be in a month or so's time?
and with the latest news that some covid patients presumed clear are now testing positive again talks of relaxing lockdown enforcements looks a bit premature.

They were very quick to act. I guess it might depend to some extent how affected the virus is by heat and sunlight. As far as I know, the island where I've got a little writing base doesn't have a single case. I can't get there at the moment so went on a virtual cycle there today instead using the Oculus Go and the exercise bike. That was very weird.

Their big fear is people bringing it from Athens to their summer houses. My island (Syros) has a hospital, but lots (including Mykonos where there have been a couple of cases) don't. Your elderly woman still has a way to go, there are more than 150 inhabited islands.

I think a key day will be tomorrow.

The number of daily deaths has followed the same rough pattern as Italy and Spain. Not quite getting to 1000 daily deaths followed by a steady drop. If it becomes less than 650 tomorrow there may be a review on Thursday that allows for more movement. That will push the figures up in a couple weeks but by then we will have a fully resourced response.

Yes but traditionally figures have been lower on a Monday. I suspect they will shoot up again tomorrow.

as was highlighted in the posts above the figures issued aren't for the last 24 hours so its hard to get a true picture of whats actually happening.

Supposed to be going to Italy with the family 1st August. Have paid deposit (£240) but have to pay balance of £4K on 9th May. Will probably pass as can't see it happening. Might lose deposit but not certain we want to go now even if possible.

The Norwegian and Danish governments have said that they expect, as it stands, for non-essential travel flights to begin again from 15 June, however, on a reduced schedule and they are advising all nationals to not travel abroad this summer in case of immediate lockdowns etc.

This makes sense as there will probably be new outbreaks and second waves kicking off over the world until a vaccine created and it would be a pain in the hole to be stuck abroad. One of those that it's up to you whether you travel but don't whinge and demand a repatriation flight if you're stuck in a hotel room in the Med.

Anyone wanting to fly anywhere anytime soon is a ****ing idiot - hope they get banged into quarantine for two weeks as soon as they get back - plenty of places to holiday in the UK - start helping the economy over here and spend your money in the local shops - the only time to even think of going abroad is when there is a proper vaccine
