Broadcasting rights, players picked to play in it, other summer sports scheduled for Sky etc etc.

Plus completely ****ing up another season when there’s alternatives.

Such as, Sky getting additional games next season and beyond if necessary, possibly getting an extension to the current contract, all of which could make up for the games they lost in this year’s calendar.

So just have a 3 month break in next season - ****ing with the integrity of the league that keeps being thrown around. Then resume the season when it should be the following season, throwing that season out of joint as well (a season which will already be affected by the World Cup)?

At what point does that allow seasons to return to normal? Just have messed up seasons for multiple years for the sake of this season?

Doesn’t it make more sense that this season gets written off and then the game returns to normal?

And if/when "next" season the 2nd/3rd wave hits and we go into lockdown again we cancel another season?

What if 37 games had been played? Would you risk lives and play the 38th or void?

The schedule of things being normal is decided by the pandemic not Sky

Yes if the pandemic goes on for long enough to mess with next season it’ll be even more of a headache. I don’t see how that helps your point?

If we end up with another wave ruining another season it’ll be **** but it’ll be a reality of the situation. Completely changing years and years of the competition with seasons inning for unlimited periods of time isn’t the answer.

That it makes more sense to play 9 games and see where we are then than to cancel a season, start another 38 game season, and then probably cancel that one too

If you think the pandemic is just going to disappear in less than a year you are deluded

Swerving the content of my post yet AGAIN.

It’s utterly pointless trying to converse with you, as you’re not interested in anything but the Red ****e being crowned champions at any cost, that’s literally it.

Because if I understand your post, which is Sky worrying about their schedule and prefering football not to clash with cricket or sprinting or whatever, than it's absolutely pathetic and the most non-issue I could imagine

If we are able to return to football in late summer or autumn then deciding to continue this season is basically choosing to either write off next season or totally mess up the football calendar for multiple years.

Maybe next season could be written off and instead a series of knockout competitions could be played in between waves of the virus if the assumption is next season will be ruined as well. Of course that would require all sorts of negotiations with sky etc as well.

The reality is at this point we don’t know what the ongoing affect of the virus will be. But we do know that in the short term no football can be played and it’s getting closer and closer to the choice between finishing this season at the expense of next season, or writing off this season and hoping to have a normal next season.

United are about to win the treble in 1999, one PL victory, then an FA Cup Final, and a CL Final and we’re hoovering up the 3 biggest trophies in one season, unthinkable, a bindipper’s worst nightmare unfolding in front of his eyes... up pops Coronavirus and stops the lot in it’s tracks... poor old United says Astro, I best go and fight their corner on a football forum... nahhhhhh

You care only about your club and would happily see thousands more die just so the season can be restarted to watch your soulless shell of a club crowned Champions.

That's not a choice we have. It was already decided when Qatar bought the World Cup and then admitted they couldn't air condition their stadia after all.

Yes there is already some scheduling issues and far tighter timescales because of the euros and olympics being moved and the stupid Qatar decision. So there is even less wiggle room to fit in the rest of this season. Getting the point now?

No. I disagree with the need to fit anything in. You do your best to plan but change your schedule accoridng to the conditions.

Apparently I'm in a minority and the board is full of clairvoyants who are already planning Sky's sport calendar during the 2021 Olympics.

And the organisers are not even sure the Olympics will even take place in 2021 but we need to write off our current season just in case.
