They won't include them. They want to keep the official figure as low as possible to minimise criticism for their denial and dithering.

They’re not adding them to the count, as they’re not even testing them.

    Convenient eh...

I honestly never realised we were letting the old folk just die, I assumed that was in a worst case scenario.....not when we claim to have 2k empty beds because we let the poor sods die. Regardless even if they will only live a year or two, an elderly life is just as valuable as any other, unless we've become inhumane.

Even then I believe not all deaths reported on any given day are from the same day. Seems kind of convenient we’ve never quite touched 1000 in a day.

I think that's why LooneyLefty was talking about doubling the figures yesterday. Because lots of data across all the major European countries shows roughly 47% of covid-19 deaths are happening in care homes.

I'm not sure it's as high as 47% in the U.K. I'd like to think not.

They also seem rather reluctant to quote NHS staff death numbers. What I'd like to see is an honest update on NHS and Care Home staff deaths ... can't see that coming anytime soon because that would shatter any seasonal death spin ... we don't lose this many doctors, nurses and Care workers to conditions transferred from those being treated ... and that's the cold reality that they just can't spin away.

Hancock was asked yesterday in his daily round up when care home staff and residents were going to be given adequate protection and support. He basically said it was on their to do list. When he was asked to clarify what he meant he handed the question over to some woman stood next to him and she basically said it was important and it was on their to do list.

I think they're seen as low priority as they were going to die soon anyway.

Agree with you mate .... the cynic in me suspects that we would soon fill our ICU capacity and then no amount of spin about plateaus and trends would then wash with the vast majority of the population ... hence the constant spin.

I'd rather die than go in any care home, heard too many horrific stories pre-covid let alone now.
Give me the brandy and aspirins any day..........Having said that for 100k a year you could possibly
    find a nice one.

My mum is in a dementia care home and the service they provide is outstanding and worth every penny as far as I’m concerned.

My mother in law is partially paralysed and incontinent. We went down for Xmas and were able to keep her at her home over Xmas because one of the carers agreed to come out to change the old girl on Xmas eve (after her shift) twice on Xmas day (turned up in her jim jams in the morning) and twice on boxing day between shifts She gets paid minimum wage by the home and told us to pay her the same. We gave her considerably more (between 3 families)- had a wonderful Xmas all things considered with a house full (3 of the old girls children with their kids) which would otherwise have been impossible. These people are incredible.
