Should help Rio Ferdinand out of his current dilemma - he wants to end the season now, but he also wants to be paid for commentating on those cancelled games. This should salve his conscience, because he only has the best intentions of football and the nation at heart.

Maybe he could pay us back some of the sixty bags a week he made while in semi-retirement.

    No was just being whimsical...

Many years ago I went to watch Leicester Tigers playing Sale at the Millenium stadium in the semi-final of the EDF Cup ... the semis were played back to back with Ospreys v Cardiff Blues up next (other half from Neath/Swansea) so we made a weekend of it ...

All four sets of fans were mixing in the pubs before and after and in the ground - was a cracking atmosphere ... lots of bantz but no threat of anything kicking off ... remember then thinking how good that would be if it could translate to my main love footie ... <cheers>

Think I’d rather just be in a pub with my own team’s fans. Sounds a bit ****y all that good-natured japery.

So no home advantage for the ‘home’ side and therefore completely unfair, as that wasn’t the case for the reverse fixture.

If anyone thinks this is about the ‘integrity’ of the league and not just desperate ideas to try and hang on to ££££, then they’re completely ****ing deluded.

It's very different for sure ... and I doubt it could ever happen in footie tbh ... when I was a youf me my cousins and mates would board a coach from The Invincible pub in the Eyres Monsell in Leicester to go to away games ... fair to say that lot and the other coaches we'd regularly link up with weren't exactly filled with bonhomie and warmth <laugh>

I agree. Liverpool-related hilarity aside it still sounds better than binning the season off or even worse awarding promotions and relegations based on points per game.

Not that this is any sort of solution for any of the leagues below the Prem.

As was asking Liverpool to play 9 games in 26 days in '89. That was, supposedly, to preserve the integrity of the competition, according to the FA and the then Football League, and I don't recall any other team that played Liverpool complained. :emoticon-0138-think

A completely fatuous and irrelevant comparison.

My post was nothing to do with Liverpool.

Don't see that happening. The wembley pitch can barely handle 2 games a week let alone 4 games a day.

What's your plan that protects the integrity more than this?

actually binning a season off due to unforeseen circumstances looks and sounds so much better than desperately trying to complete the season any which way how thus removing the core value of fairness from the game.

Fairness is so important that we binned it off...that’s integrity, not playing 18 games a day at a neutral ground so that they can get paid...no fans and a disadvantage for the team who’s home fixture it should be.

What about teams that have earned promotion or European places?

Coincidental that Spurs have basically thrown their entire club away this season and you want it binning?
