Subliminal subterfuge? Last night, I had a vivid dream that everyone was issued special governmental 'medically prescribed' hover-boards,with the remit: so we all could practice our social distancing easier. Going by seniority meant the higher you could hover- 70's and older were hidden in the clouds. I know the lock-down is interfering with my usual sleep pattern - I'm eating and drinking more than I should. Anyone having strange dreams or nightmares over the recent days? Feel free to share them
I've always been a 7am 'ping' and up for work person ... ... that's all changed and there's no pattern any more, I posted on here at 3am the other day. I had a dream, a few nights back, where I was terminally infected with CV and going back through my past killing various people with a crossbow. The bolts had spiral tips and came out spinning. The mess was horrible when they hit the target but it didn't bother me, I must've killed about 30 people. The most enjoyable was an Ashfield Hell's Angel called Vulture who I'd had a nasty confrontation with in the Plough, Mansfield. The strange this is that he'd already died about 10 years ago, I remember celebrating with a pint and rum chaser.
Jesus sound like a nutters dream that splattering 30 people with a crossbow. Wouldn't want to go hunting with you
I rarely remember any of my dreams. But a couple of nights ago I dreamt that me and Charlie Methven were stood on a beach and he was teaching me how to fish. He started off by using a rod with ordinary fishing line on and he was showing me how to cast the line, but for some reason he couldn’t do it himself. He then worked out that he should be spinning the line on the end of the rod before casting. Anyway he did it and gave the rod to me and the line broke. Charlie then figured out that instead of fishing line, we needed rope. So somehow I had a rod with rope. I felt a tug on the rode/rope contraption and I started to land what was on the end of the line which was a big white lobster thing but with an elongated mouth full of teeth. Charlie seemed to know what it was and he took it off the end of the rope and gave it to me. I was a bit wary to touch it but I did and it was a bit wriggly and not like how a lobster ought to feel. Anyway I put it down and it disappeared from sight and we turned our attention to the other thing on the rope which looked like an ordinary fish. Charlie said it was a whiting, which I agreed with because it was nearly all white. At that point the dream faded out. So, do I need psychiatric help?
I believe Freud defined dreams as our wish-fulfilments ? and quoted “The virtuous man contents himself with dreaming that which the wicked man does in actual life.” Something quite cathartic about having violent dreams - I always feel better for having them.
Read as much as I can (understand). I'm (still) in the process of writing a proposal for my PhD - that requires a philosophical viewpoint. Do you read about Philosophy or Philosophers ?
Aye, but I have to keep putting the book down to look up words like empiricism, and logical positivism. I don’t delve too deep though, I just like to know a bit about the more we’ll known ones and their thinking. Most of its way above my head. Funnily enough, it was a Monty Python Sketch that started me off.
You should write on here about a dream you had recently, or even a recurring dream - lets see how your mind ticks !
Once dreamt about getting beat off Sunderland six times off the trot! Thank god that’ll never happen.
i would like to wipe out all the bats on this frigging planet for supposingly causing this **** in the first place.
Woke up with my dad saying come on it’s time to get up then he sat on the end of my bed and took his head off where e appeared to about a dozen kindling sticks “ like you buy in them bags “ stuck in his kneck that his head fits on he then gave me a piggyback down stairs where there was a boy about five with a large blood blister on his head when he turned to shut the door I kicked the blister off with my foot and he went mental, then I wake up, had this dream numerous times. Do you think that’s weird
