I cannot agree with this ....i deplore censorship in any form...you must give a open forum for the idiots and then we can all see them for what they are...are you a benevolent dictator then cyp...how do you know?yes in extremis if people threaten violence then warn them and then delete them but to delete a whole thread apears as overuse of powers... power corrupts cyprus..next you will be planning the invasion of a small island in the med.

I feel a bit cheated that a thread has been deleted where I think I was making logical arguments against Cest's OP. We were debating it in a very reasonable manner, if there were posts on there that were out of order they should have been deleated, not the whole thread. What's the point in giving your opinion on a controversial thread if its only going to be deleated.

Some people on here seem unable to debate in a reasonable manner. If you disagree with a posters OP then say you disagree and then make logical statements to back up your argument and try to get the OP to see your point of view. Posts like "Your a twat", "**** off you numpty" etc really achieve nothing. I am on the fence where Bruce is concerned at the moment. I totally disagreed with Cest saying he had thrown derby games, I told him this and gave my reasons without any insults, its quite easy to be civil.

I think some people may just get a bit exasperated when every thread, on virtually any subject gets turned into a slanging match on Bruce. Its not black and white (no pun intended). Some things he has done very well, some could be better so I don't really get the extreme views on either side of the debate.

I really thought this was over, I really did. I now see I am abusing my power, the age old calls of deploring of censorship and fredom of speech.

I try my best to do a job because I was asked to but I promise you that nothing is worth this crap. You hate censorship so I take it I can start and spout some good ald fashioned racism, you know the good stuff. Do you free speaking people have any idea what could happen if I do, or you do? Yes, no or do you not give a dam. Do you know that Mick and maybe me could be locked up, of course we dont want censorship.

I decide, for the good of the board to delete a thread, how many have I deleted this year on here, any idea, thought not.

I try, out of respect to you, the board members, to try and explain why and I get this crap.

I am angry and hurt by this and TBH dont need or want it, maybe a few days away is needed and you freedom speaking clever people can get on with it.

I will spend my time on other boards where at least the majority get what its all about.

I have a lot of time for Cest and his passion Me too. Even if I didn't share his views (see my signature), I would hope I would still respect the way he defends his views. Pity that defence was removed (but I maintain great respect and gratitude for Syd as our Super-moderator) However, it's good to see Cest resolutely continuing to hold his ground, ground on which I too stand.

but all this angst, it's a shame. "Angst"? No, I see it as strong, empassioned and reasoned forum debate.

Last season was our third highest placing for years and years and years.....
Some of us are very hard to please
That's what the numbers on paper say but if I look more closely, they flatter us. As Lawro pointed out on MOTD, if WBA hadn't scored in the last minute at St James's last year, Newcastle would have been 8th and if we hadn't been playing against a team that was already relegated and if ... and if ... we could have finished 15th, we could have finished 10th. What I'm trying to say is that, in my opinion, Steve Bruce has reached his limits and these figures paper over real cracks. Cest is much more articulate than I am at presenting the figures concerning what has happened over the last nine months and in previous seasons but it is clear to me that if we want to move onwards and UPwards, we need to look elsewhere.

But I'm a Sunderland fan and I want and hope for a comprehensive victory tomorrow after a QPR-Villa draw today, leaving us in 8th place. Those numbers on paper will leave me temporarily and superficially happy in the company of my family and a bottle of Saint-Emilion but will not allay my fundamental fears.

im sorry to say this cyprus but i think you are being a little childish and precious...tbh.....do you really think that you are not clever?....i dont think so ...its just that "you have decided"thats the key issue.....thats the stuff i rail against....yes delete the ones promoting violence but to delete the whole thread i think was a mistake....as for censorship and racism ..you give the idiots enough rope to hang themselves(metaphor) if you ban them they develop a cachet that attracts the young and ignorant

I think you did the right thing syd no matter how entertaining or debate worthy it was it was by all accounts even by those involved getting out of hand. It's done now and semi normality has returned to the SAFC board you can't please everyone all the time mate you made a decision and that's that.

First point is no I dont think I am being childish, I am angry and it was you who said I am aginst censorship in any form.

Good idea about this giving enough rope to racism, sadly its not how it works in the real world.

I said in my OP I still dont know if I did right but I did what I thought was right and thats all I can do. What I'm saying now is simple, is it worth the hassle, again just being honest, its what I do, try and be honest.

maybe next time, instead of deleting it do its gone completely and no comeback at all, Hide it instead, say why its gone, and then you can always delete the offending posts, clean the thread up a bit, and unhide it if the vast majority want it back.

Mods have a hard job to do. The very fact that people are so different means that it will always be nigh impossible to keep everyone happy.

Humour and banter is to be enjoyed..... North east humour is second to none.
However, absolute bile taints the whole Sunderland board.
Ultimately it will chase people away which is the last thing that's needed.

I think Syd acted in good faith and was brave enough to do it.

Any racist or violent posts should be taken off and the poster banned, I don't think anybody would disagree with you syd but lets not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

You do a great job on here , don't take it to heart if some disagree sometimes, I don't think whole threads should go but thats no criticism of you or the job you do as a mod.

Who would you guys rather have right now? Bruce or Pardew?

PS: I made this post without looking at the second page where it seems to have turned into some deep emotional conversation about moderation duties, but still.

Neither, as they are both completely ****e second rate managers but Pardew has undoubtedly done far better with the meagre hand he has been dealt by Ashley, than our useless fat geordie twat has give all the support, freedom, financial assistance and complete control of all things on the pitch that Quinn and Short have afforded him.

My mother could have done a better job than Bruce has, given the fantastic surroundings and atmosphere created by Sir Niall for him to work in.

. ................a bit precious and possibly childish in my opinion......"Good idea about this giving enough rope to racism, sadly its not how it works in the real world."[/I........if you dont bring racism unto the light of day( so it can be debunked by every decent human being)you are left with blanket bans..... however racism forgive my pun..is not black and white,it has many strands and degrees and if you have blanket bans some of the stuff on the periphery that is not racist gets lumped into the ban by the thought police and that dilutes the argumment and can be used by some as a form of social and thought control.....i hate racists...that in itself is a wrong...i should pity them...........this is a football forum...we can all spot the idiots so why ban them........
