The list includes Michael Johnson, Jo, Shay Given, Emmanuel Adebayor, Roque Santa Cruz, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Wayne Bridge, Nedum Onuoha and Craig Bellamy. Nine players who the Manchester City boss feels he can do without. The clubââ¬â¢s mega rich board has no issue with allowing the Italian more cash to bring in new signings, as evidenced by their purchasing of ã27m striker Edin Dzeko, however they will look to see Mancini to cut costs before they go overboard with new additions. I know a lot of these are out on loan and I am sure we would want to make Onuoha permanent (and the press suggest he wants to stay), any of the rest that you think would improve the squad (and be affordable)? Personally, Michael Johnson would be a good acquisition too!
There's a very welcome home for Nedum at the SOL, Jo might be a decent squad player - we know he's damn good and players often need a bit of time to adjust to the PL Maybe Johnson too, but no one else.
The big stumbling block with these players (perhaps excluding Onuoha) will be their wage demands. Man City have payed over the odds for a lot of these players and their wage structure is prohibative for other teams to make good signings from them. Ned is a must I think but I doubt any of the others would make a great impact on the squad we currently have....arguably the best I have ever seen.
I'm not sure about him now. A couple of years ago I would have said "sign him up" but he's been out of the side for too long now IMO (even allowing for injuries). In my opinion, he is no improvement on what we have got (Muntari, Cattermole, Meyler Henderson, Steed etc etc?)
Always liked SWP but Sess looks to be better, cheaper & similar type of player so don't need. Given is a Legend I still remember the loan spell when he single handedly got us promoted. Want to keep him but if we lose flash to the Manc would be pleased to have Given here with Mingolet looking to play a few more games if it turned a profit for the club and maybe got us Welbeck. Other than that Flash all way, I think the best keeper in this league. Obviously Nedum but the rest I would leave alone.
Adam Johnson? Brilliant player, and Brucey should have had him before ManC signed him up. Get him in, and get Henderson out, preferably a swap deal, but if they want to give us extra pennies, thats a bonus
I like Johnson, but dont think Henderson is going very far, not this year anyway, unless Barren Dents agent starts touting him round. Nedum for sure, would like shay also, but he wont be coming to the SOL, the unwashed would make his life unpleasant to say the least, recon shay will end up at the gooners place, seems he owns property in london anyway, save him ã25 a night band b.
TBH, I'd b happy with any of these players, and the club would obviously make them take a pay cut if we wanted to sign them... I can't believe the club is in the position where we can start talking about these sorts of players, rather than Matt Killgallon!
