Bolton have now lost 5 in a row after beating qpr away on the opening day, they have Chelsea at home next and if they lose that they'll be taking a run of 6 straight league defeats to the Dw stadium for a tricky tie against Wigan. A defeat there and could it be curtains for Owen Coyle? My money is still on Steve Kean winning the sack race, I think its just a matter of time. If they don't I think its Avram Grant and West Ham all over again. Altgough no one saw them beating Arsenal their next 5 games are Man City (h) qpr (a) spurs (h) norwich (a) Chelsea (h) The sack race is definately on, are there any more contenders at this stage? Hodgson? Jol?
Kean and Coyle are in dodgy places but Kean is in the worst place of all. Coyles appointment caused a whole lot of problems for him personally with the Burnley fans and I think because of that he will be given a little more time. Luckiest manager in the EPL though is our own because without Niall Quinn, Bruce would be at home with his family right now imo and free to go watch his beloved goon army without prejudice whenever he felt like it. 3 wins in 10 months is a woeful home record, another derby (this time at home) and knocked out the cup inside of the first 2 weeks was a poor, poor start. A win at home to a very tired looking Stoke City last week eased the pressure but he is still hanging by a thread as far as I am concerned as the manager of our club. Bruce is still 3rd of 4th favourite to me for the boot before Christmas, unless he performs a miracle and starts to put a team out that can win games but since we are now 2 years and 5 transfer windows into his reign and he still hasn't got a friggin clue what that team might be, I wouldnt hold you breath too long.
I agree that IF we were to lose the next two then Bruce would be back under pressure but these are two games I expect 4 points from and that'll do me and Bruce I think. I think for Bruce to get sacked we'd have to lose 5 or 6 on the bounce
Can't see Coyle getting sacked 4 of their 5 defeats have been Man City (H), Man Utd (H), Liverpool (A) and Arsenal (A). It's a bottom of the league fixture list, so perfectably understandable them being bottom, plus the Bolton fans love Coyle.
Come on now it'd be crazy to suggest sacking Bruce after 38 games, give him.a chance to gel his new look team.together.
Toon fan weighing in with my $0.02 will be very surprised if Hodgson, Jol, Bruce (though still time for them to arrest their poor starts) and Kean are still in charge by the end of the season. Wenger/Coyle it depends if the fans get on their back.
Proactive: (Chambers Dictionary 11th edition) "tending actively to instigate changes in anticipation of future developments". So please, let's not wait to lose these 15 or 18 points on the bounce, let's be proactive.
I think we will go on a bit of a run now and Bruce will be safe. Kean or Hodgeson would be my pick but to bexquire honest I can't see anyone going too early this season. I think most sides are looking for Stability. I think the sides that are doing badly like Bolton and Arsenal are ones that will stick with their man. The Newley promoted teams know it's going to be difficult so I expect them to stick with it too.
Total bastard of a start that is. Would be very harsh on him to get the push after a start like that. It's a bit unfair on Bolton too as the players confidence takes a battering and they are under pressure right from the start. Look at the quite easy start the mags have had, if they had that start I don't think they would have done any better, or us for that matter and the knives would be out for Pardew and Bruce (even more than they are now for Bruce)
well my number 1 for the sack has to be SAF, to only get a draw against Stoke with that team shows his incompetence. Poor management............
Alright lads, good to see you're back to talking about football eh? Dunno if you watched Toon v Blackburn the other day but after I watched it I was saying my money would have to be on Steve Kean getting the sack next. Blackburn look ****ing dire lately and if it weren't for Best being a little off with his finishing we'd have scored 6-7 easy. Huge difference in their side since fat Sam left, he had them as a tight defensive unit but they aren't even that any more. I reckon they're up **** creek unless he pulls something special out of the bag. Couldn't be happier if they crashed and burned out of the prem. **** club, **** manager, **** owners (coming from a mag ffs ) and awful football.
Got to agree. The Venkys are clueless but even they must be able to see what an arse of it he's doing. Totally incompetent and deluded beyond belief.
