Normal if a sparrow hawk is around, you will hear those sort of noises, distress calls. It's basically a warning for every other bird to fook off.

 

ahhh the sparrow hawk.. one of my mates plays darts to a decent standard and that is his name.

 

Yes, for smaller birds, they will try and rip the head off.
